Kwame Brown certainly appears to be an amazing talent, but in order to succeed in the NBA he will have to develop post moves so he can become a true power forward which will take time.I think it would be better for him to go college and improve his game, even though it could help us in getting a good SF dropping to the 13th pick.
I also think that Curry seems to have a better chance of being the 1st pick because he can play in the post unlike Kwame Brown.

At 6'11", 250 lbs, and benching 330 lbs, he can learn to play in the post. [IMG]

He's got all that plus ballhandling and passing ability? Double- [IMG]

Definitely not Diop. He is a major project, and could fall bad if he doesn't perform well in workouts.

May 13th is the deadline for players to declare for the draft, and Kwame Brown, one of the highest rated high schoolers and thought to be dead-set on going to Florida, is now strongly considering the NBA.

This is a terrific article on Brown today in the Orlando Sentinel.

Great find Clutch! This guy is supposed to be amazing.

Now the big question, if you had the first pick is it:

    Diop
    Curry
    or Brown.

I guess the more popular picks are Curry or Brown. But Diop has to be up there as well.

Regardless, here's to a decent SF falling to 13!

Kwame Brown, to me, would be the #1 pick, based on someone who's ready to step in right now and play. Baby Shaq will need some extra seasoning, but should be great in time. Kwame, of course, is also young and has played no college ball, but man, he is an ungodly talent.

It would be an early christmas if the Rockets could some how work their majic and land this guy. If he does come out he will be something to watch for years to come.

If he does come out and the Rockets can't get him, then it will still help the Rockets by pushing players down to the 13th pick.

Now, this is the one guy that, if I had a say, the Rocks would be doing EVERYTHING possible to draft. I'd be willing to trade ALL the picks and a future pick to move up to draft this guy.

    FORGET, CWEBB!!

In 3 years, Kwame will be better than CWebb ever has been!

Offensively, he's as raw as they come, but the athleticism, physical makeup, ball-handling, rebounding and shot-blocking potential...

    OOOWWWEEE!!!

I don't see how we could get him. The Wizards are high on him, and they have the second or third pick, which I don't see any way of trading for.

We might be able to get up to Vancouver's pick at 4th or 5th, and possibly pick up Griffin, Chandler, Diop, Battier, or Richardson, but I expect Curry and Brown will be gone in the first 3 picks.

I like Brown a lot, not a Garnett clone, doesn't have the freakish athleticism KG has, though he's certainly not bad in the department.

When I saw him on a couple of high school all-star games, his ball handling ability was excellent for a big man, but again, he wasn't quite KG in that skill. He has a decent outside shot, not quite spectacular, but probably similar, maybe even slightly better than KG's first year.

Eddy Curry, based on the 2 games I saw was clearly more polished, but Eddy won't have the same strength advantage in the NBA, so it's hard to compare.

For what it is worth, USA Today ranked Kwame Brown as the best 5 in this years' HS senior class.

The rockets definitely should go balls out to get Brown. I would love to see Kwame as our starting pf. Get M. Jackson with our free-agent money and the dynasty is ready to go! [IMG]

Wait, even better: Get Brown, except find a way to keep the 22 pick and draft Terrence Morris. IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII feeeel good!

Hey, so what if this will never happen.

Morris did not impress in the Nike Desert Classic against very few highly rated players. Just because a guy has height and athleticism doesn't mean he's a player.

Or he's tanking his camps because he wants to fall to the Rockets, knowing he'll get his $$$ sooner or later anyway...

Sorry, that's a little too conspiracy-ish. And he'll probably be available anyway.

This is something I do wonder about. Do players try and target themselves for mid to late first round by dogging the camps or by early entering a deep draft? The tradeoff would be to get less money up front versus playing for a winning team / organization.
