http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/3724186.html That's good enough for me. I've always said that if Kubiak can take Jake Plummer and make him a Pro-Bowler, then he can turn Carr into one of the best QBs in the NFL.
I wish Kubiak well, he has a chance to make it happen, and hope he is right about Carr. I still think they are 3 to 4 years away from being a good team, unless they retool with free agents. Good teams do not go 2-14........ DD
You're definitely right, but taking Bush instead of Young should definitely shorten that time-table a bit. Bush should be able to contribute immediately.
Keep in mind, that although we sucked...we kinda handed away a few of those games at the end of the year. The Rams double digit comeback with a couple min left, the Kris Brown botched few goals, etc... That Texans team could have won at least 6 games. Not that thats great, but they are far better than a traditional 2-14 team.
Hey don't forget our bet. If you want to get an early start and change your sig April 1st until May 1st I will be cool with that.
i don't know if they did or didn't. if they didn't, i'm not real keen on going forward with those guys, anyway. the bottom line is that the team needs a massive infusion of talent. we have two players on our entire roster that i think would be absolute legit starters on other teams in the league. past that, we seem weighed down with mediocrity...and in many cases below average play. especially for the money we're paying for those parts. i think it's going to take more than one offseason to fix that. particularly if we're not more active in the free agent market than we seem to be right now.
While I disagree with your figure on "two players" (I think it's more like 3 or 4 ), I believe that part of that is coaching. I believe that we do have some raw, young talent that just needs the right coaching staff to be molded into starting-caliber players. Dom Capers and his staff were not what we needed, in the least bit. With that said, I'd like to say that I believe that Gary Kubiak is a coach that might be able to tap into some of that potential. In about 3 years or so, I believe that an evaluation of the players on our roster (at the present time) will yield greater results.
I think a lot of people will be surprised how quickly good coaching can turn around a team. Of course the jury is still out on Kubiak, but I'm hopeful.
The St Louis Rams went from 4-12 to 13-3 - you never know. I guess we'll find out how bad the former coaching staff really was.
I have a bet with both you and ReggieTodd......one of you will get it for some time and the other after that....or I can do them both at once. DD
It's funny. I remember Carr's rookie year, he said he has try to mold his game to a mixture of his two favorite players – Favre & Elway. Now, he has each of their last coach tutoring him.
I trust that Kubiak will make the right choice ~ I hope that the right choice is Vince, but I will still be very happy with Reggie if he is our pick. One thing I do want is a big name exciting player ~ Vince and Reggie fit the bill, but trading down ehhh not to exciting IMO.
I was on the fence with the whole Reggie vs Vince thing but I started leaning towards Vince mainly because he's from Houston and went to UT. Yes I know he's talented too but so is Reggie and that was my tie breaker. So if we do end up drafting Reggie I'll be thrilled. And if we trade down, I don't think I'm going to like it. I have my heart set on one of these two guys.
I'm the same way as you guys. Even though I'd prefer them to draft Reggie, I'm just hoping we at least get one of the two. Both players will generate a ton of excitement that I don't think anyone else in the draft can. Of course if they traded down and those picks equaled more wins, then I'm sure we'd forget all about draft day excitement pretty quick.
