Since he is up for an extension . . .can KT be signed and traded So that his salary could be used to match someone else's salary to make the trade happen? Rocket River
Only free agenst can be SnT'd. He is under contract for a 4th yr just like Steve Francis. He has the exact same contract as Francis. Next summer, he can be SnT'd but there is a rule that prevents signing people to salary numbers just to match another player...that's a loop hole they closed that was once used to artificially prop up someone's salary to match another. In a SnT trade, we will only be allowed to trade for a player who is paid 50% of whatever we sign Kenny, yet the other team will get a cap hit for the whole amount. Thus, there will be a trade gap exceeding the allowable 15% trade gap. For this reason, SnT's involving players receiving raises above 15% cannot happen unless a team with cap room or a trade exception is involved to absorb the difference in salaries.
HEY Jr. . . . Come back when you hit at least a thousand post!!! I GOT 3K DUDE!!! DON'T MESS WITH ME . . I'M A BAD MAN!! Just Joking. . . Ask anyone .. I'm the biggest KT Fan . . . I want to see him do well If not here somewhere . . . I want to make sure we don't trade him just to trade him . . and not for a scrub. Rockets Fan 1st KT fan 2nd Rocket River
MO T might not be rehabilitated well on his ankle. Does he remind you of Grant Hill? Kenny has an awesome year last year and he should be with the rosters at least for another year or 2. I really like KT's strong spin move on the paint!!
To me, Kenny is a valuable asset for a future trade, but no longer fits well with the Rockets. Kenny could be starting for several Eastern Conference teams, and deserves the chance to play major minutes. He just shouldn't play much here anymore, because he will hamper the development of Griffin, MoT, and Nachbar, depending how Rudy T wants to use Kenny. I would love to see the Rockets keep Kenny until the final trade deadline, and force an Eastern Conference playoff contender pay the Rockets more than Kenny is worth.
I think Kenny still fits well with us. . .It's just whether he wants to accept a smaller role when he has proven how he can perform. Since he will probably not want to assume such a drastically reduced role then I will wish him well wherever he does end up.
For those confused, hp is pretty much talking about BYC. (The same reason Lewis almost certainly will NOT be moved via SnT). KALI-Mo doesn't have a known ankle injury. I think, KT will still be a useful forward for us based on our current roster. However, if we were to get Lewis, which is still doubtful, I think you'd have to explore moving him, because then he'd get 0 SF minutes, and Lewis (as well as Morris) could slide up to 4 if we need 3rd string PF minutes.
I think we should hang on to KT until we see how our PF situation works out. The Rockets need to wait and see if Griffin is ready to break out and if Taylor is recovered from his injury. I think Mo would be a better trade candidate than Kenny if he comes back healthy and productive. They shouldnt worry about Kenny losing value by sitting the bench more because GM's have seen what he can do. As far as Rashard Lewis, I think he's a good player and would be a decent fit for the Rockets, but he's NOT worth the max and I dont think the Rockets should go too far to get him.
Strange thing about this thread. . . . it never said TRADE KENNY is asked a question relating to KT . . . It is more a CBA question than a KT Question .. I just used KT as an example. Rocket River Keep up Jr.
