I posted this in an earlier thread and wanted to poll my fellow brethren to see if they think this is a doable trade. Houston trades: Jason Collier $1,280,040 to Cleveland Houston trades: Kenny Thomas $946,920 to Cleveland TOTAL: $2,226,960 Cleveland trades: Chris Mihm $2,067,960 to Houston TOTAL: $2,067,960 TRADE ACCEPTED ------------------------ KT will not sign with us next year, as he has seen the writing on the wall and will bolt for greener pastures. I think Clevland would get rid of Mihm as they have a glut at the 5 spot and are weak at the 4. What do my Clutch City Brethren think of the KT for Mihm scenario. Collier is a throw in to make the numbers work. DD
I would do it in a heartbeat, because Mihm brings a defensive presence that we need. I still wonder if we can afford Mihm, Steve F., Griffin, and next year's high draft pick (possibly) long term.
I admit that I know very little about Mihm, but looking at his stats I see that he has a 39.9% FG%, anyone care to explain to me why a PF/C has such a low FG%?
Roc's should do it but the Cavs won't. Mihm is a important asset for them I would love it even though he came from t.u.
Considering the logjam at PF, with KT, MoT(next year) and Griff, I think that if you are looking to trade an asset with some value to get some kind of value back as a center you have to think that KT would be a prime canidate. Looking at the results of this poll, voted on by Rockets fans, however, I am compelled to the conclusion that general perceptions of KT's and Mihm's relative values are not close enough to get it done.
His game used to be somewhat more perimiter-oriented than most centers' average game. Also, I believe he's still playing out of position at PF?
Its an awesome deal for us. Mihm isnt the best center, but he is defintely un upgrade over cato and willis. KT is averaging decent numbers (14 and 7) this year and his shooting percentage is decent, and his numbers are likely to go up in the small east. I guess that might be why cleveland would do it.
KT has consistenly put up stronger numbers statistically than Mihm. Cleveland has 2 other (albeit injury prone centers), yet lacks any good PF, which KT could definitely be in the East. It seems to be a very fair deal to me.
The thing that we have to consider is whether the Rockets management think Mihm is better then Collier. Collier and Mihm are a lot alike in ability, if the Rockets think Collier will be as good as Mihm then the deal does not make sense. However, if the Rockets think Mihm has more upside then Collier it is a slam dunk. KT is gone in a year...no matter what, we should get some value for him while we can. DD
Sure he will proably not resign to stay in Houston, but we can still offer him the most money, surely a sign and trade is the best situation for both parties.
The question is, can Mihm beat out Cato to be our 2nd-string center, since Griffin will be the starter for many more years?
I don't see how this benefits Cleveland. They are pretty stocked at the 3-4 with Murray and Jones and would weaken themselves at the 5 by trading Mihm. KT would also be delegated to a bench role which in recent days we've seen he has little interest in playing. I'd also rather have Miller than Mihm.
Lamond Murray and Jumaine Jones can play front line positions and they're good players. They also have Tyrone Hill (although he's an injured commodity, too). Adding KT to the mix would only cause a logjam. Taking away Mihm would mean you have injury-prone Zydrunas Ilgauskas, unproven and injury-prone Desegana Diop, and Michael Doleac (also injured) as your big men. Until Mihm proves that he can stay out of foul trouble for at least 35 minutes, I don't want him. When his game is on, he'd be a great addition to this team, but more often than not, he's riding the pines with fouls. Now tell me again why the Cavs want to make this deal?
