KPJ being out this long...planned? Rockets wanted to see Sengun in the role they always envisioned?

Do you thiink KPJ's "injury" really warranted him being out this long? I'm assuming the Rockets wanted to see the offense run through Sengun against this stretch of mostly weak/weakened teams with barely any quality interior players. Contrary to what some might think, our org knows what they have, and have been easing Alperen into this as he grows/matures. Some might not have liked the way we got here, but the Midnight Express is getting momentum now. We're tanking, and developing guys. Ergo many of the "odd" maneuvers.

If that is the case and I do not believe it is the decision came from above Silas. Silas does not seem happy having to use Sengun more.

Or, his injury is just more serious than being let out. IIRC, didn’t he have to go take a 2nd opinion of his foot?

Yeah, I'm not sure the system has changed as much as KPJ is not bringing the ball up and Sengun is imposing his will.

Let me put it this way: If the system has truly changed in the middle of a near-historic bad season in favor of doing things that every expert and casual fan has been screaming for since before the end of the previous season, I think it makes the organization look even worse (cue the "is that even possible" gif). But I don't think they have really changed the system and so remain the inept and clueless organization we're asked to tolerate.

this is what im saying! Jalen is not even doing anything revolutionary: he is simply bringing the ball up and getting the team into the offense early. Jalen getting easy Assists KPJ could have gotten simply feeding Sengun for early offense.

I pefer to look for positives among negative situations instead of just riding a wave with a defeatist mentality looking to blame someone for this situation. I actually can see the tank for what it is. Wemby is the prize, but there will be enough talent at the top to make this season worth the pain.

Sengun was benched until Bruno got hurt. We did not run our offense through Sengun until kpj got hurt. It was not part of the plan, it was completely by accident. Silas made a name as the offensive coach for Luka and was supposed to be good for a guard oriented system, the Rockets built around Jalen and kpj and Sengun was an afterthought. He was asked to be a rim runner and stay out of the guard’s way. His assist numbers plummeted at the start of this season even though he showed to be one of the best passing big men as a rookie, because the staff wanted a dumb rim running big not an offensive hub.

This is now all blowing up in Silas’s face. The national media has caught on and now every analyst, blogger with eyes sees that the offense should be built around Sengun. This is something Silas was never equipped for or brought here to do, that’s why he has resisted and rejected and marginalized Sengun at every turn, and any of what we see now has only happened due to injuries.

Now there is no turning back. That’s why I do not dread kpj coming back, I welcome it. He was one of our better players but just used the wrong way. They will either change his role to fit around Sengun or there will be an uproar among fans and media, Silas tried to keep it under wraps but the cats out of the bag.

Going forward I would like to see Jordi Fernandez or David Adelman as our next head coach, the two offensive coaches for Kings and Nuggets. There are people in the front office who actually believe in Sengun and responsible for drafting him in the first place, these are the people that deserve more control and hiring these coaches would be a signal that the balance of power have shifted.

KPJ would be going to Landry's and throwing food at everyone in sight if he was healthy and not allowed to play.
