and people wonder why piracy is an issue in korea man back when i dabbled in a bit of warez stuff there were all sort of KR ftps like getting a kr ftp was super easy. and this was like 6-7 years ago i am sure its even going to be easier now and the number of them will go up like crazy. not that there arent already 1-2gbit ftps out there but if its available at home well then. its sad how far behind the US is in making fast interest available to the masses. (granted its a much more difficult task here) i live in one of the biggest cities in the world and the best dsl i can get is 6mbit? 8mbit if its cable?
It's a bigger issue in China and there internet speed is crap. On the other hand Japans' is similars to Korea and piracy is not such a big issue there. In other words i don't think internet speed has a big effect on piracy.
i remember reading that internet piracy by % is much higher in korea (obvious sheer numbers give china the edge) i'll post the article if i find it again..... china's internet speeds arent too bad they are just heavily regulate the flow of in and out going traffic.... unless something has changed but i wont go into that part of what i know
fail logic. Thats one instance in the rural areas, how about looking for pictures like that in urban areas? you probably wont find any.
Yes, this is one small section in a random town. Japan can implement high speed because everything is ran above ground. Much of ours is ran underground. Also, Japans structures are built specifically to allow upgrading. Americans homes especially, can be at time very difficult to run new utilities w/out tearing out walls and such.
That number just boggles my mind. Trust me. The low "percentage" of people doing illegal downloading in China is due to the fact that most people in China can't afford a monthly internet access plan. In fact, most people use web-bars or pay through download by how much they downloaded and uploaded. But it's still rampant because computer software stores line up their wares with pure counterfeit stuff.
of course anywhere compared to korea is bad from what i was told from some people i knew in china the speeds within the country were fine compared to the US. i havent really bothered to keep up with any of this stuff in the past 4-5 years so i am sure things have changed greatly since then
Internet piracy is one thing, but within most residential area in China, you can get DVDs for basically 50cents. And China's internet from my experience were as good as the U.S. (though they block a lot of foreign site) and at a much much cheaper price.
No sir I believe you FAIL. You can easily see high rises in the background of those pics. That is not a rural area, it is a residential area. Btw, if you follow the link, the poster discusses how the pics are from Japan, not Korea. Also, he states, "One of the reasons why Japan has the highest internet speeds in the world at cheap prices - telecommunication wires are mostly above ground in residential areas and are easy to install." Thus the reason why there are so many damn wires above ground in the pic. I doubt it would be that congested if it happened stateside since we have so many weather issues.
Starcraft phenonmenon in Korea is pretty ridiculous. I think the top players these days make like 200 grand a year. If you think this is the case, then you must only be downloading or viewing webpages from the evil, corrupt, immoral western servers. In which case, yeah the "great firewall" will make sure to take the time to make sure you only get the relevant information.
Japan and Korea are so congested, it doesn't matter how many utility lines/poles there are. It's not like it's going to ruin the awesome view of the walls all around you. I've been to Korea last year. That kind of area is considered rural in Korea. Even rural areas have tall residential buildings like so in the background. The "wiring" is much better organized in the "city". But who cares what it looks like, we don't live there. Everyone is inside playing Starcraft smoking a cig.
