Just saw this last night. A friend posted it on fb so I shared it, now it is all everyone is posting. Really great cause to raise awareness. I'd been aware of rebel soldiers abducting children to make them kill but never knew who exactly was behind it all or what his motives were.

I didn't know anything about Joseph Kony before this video. Great way of raising awareness.

Sheesh. This has dominated my facebook and now here?

Obama already sent troops to Africa in November to help deal with this problem.

Im glad to see this posted but it is very disappointing how people are talking so bad about this. Its for a great cause and people are being so selfish. Is it really so much to ask for people to take 5 seconds out of their day and help the cause.

There's a lot of negativity about it? Why -- is it because they're asking for charitable donations? No clue why that would be.

Perhaps it's the specific charity involved....Invisible Children. Apparently(from what I read), they're not real efficient with the donations.

    Bigass reddit thread....

Some counterpoints... First link is a blog post from almost 6 years ago, and the other link is a tumblr page.

Only thing I can think of is some people don't like that social media turning another serious problem into a fad movement (see the 99% occupy movement). Who cares though? All these people sharing this vid just to be a part of something can still do a lot of good no matter the motivations.

My thoughts are if it is going to help some kids NOT be abused/tortured/killed it deserves a serious look.

Kudos to them for trying to make a difference.

Give me $1,000,000 and I'll make sure to help a few people escape from mexican drug lords. After I pay off my $250,000 mortgage that is.

This guy has been around for a long time... and has been bad for a long time..

Why do we suddenly care? Seems fishy...

Last time we started caring so much about something they snuck in the NDAA without anyone noticing

Uh, what? I don't remember any major moral panic about terrorists in the period before NDAA.

I'll just be honest and state that I won't support this. It's not like I pay attention to Africa, but the Lord's Resistance Army is a rebel group and not in command of Central Africa if I'm right. So why can't they try him as opposed to some international court?

Moral panic about terrorists has existed since 9/11...

but that is besides the point. Its not about the moral panic. Its just about the fact that when an issue gains major mainstream popularity, news outlets reduce their focus on everything else going on... and things are likely to get covered up and lost in the shuffle

its a way for hipsters to feel important. It is not much different than the "awareness" of the live aid concerts. i have supported people that donate time and money to the invisible children foundation, but i always get some feeling that it is some bureaucratic organization that uses 10 cents for every dollar to the cause.

I have my doubts about invisible children and their dealings. Can someone explain why all of a sudden they r putting in so much effort into getting this guy arrested even though he hasn't really posed a serious threat in yeara.

What is ic s motive behind this

Very nice thing, only thing that really brings my hopes down is that we all know there's thousands of others just like this man who are doing worse.
