Maybe DaDakota should to jump on the bandwagon as well. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601101&sid=aHQODoKwFYrA&refer=japan
Ha ha....I see hypocrites "via" tele "com"muncation. They want to find everyone who watches or posts their videos on YouTube, Torrents, and sites of such, while they have possibly made fortune of using someone else's concept and "unknowingly" planned to use a similar title.
We had a patent on the controller as a guitar, but again the reason I don't or can't sue is that Gizmondo cluttered up the fricken IP ownership issue... But, I am interested. All the things that the next generation of Rock Band does, we were doing in 2004, including a 3d Adventure portion...... DD
To be fair, Viacom probably didn't even know exactly what was going on. MTV Games and Harmonix are probably more to blame. Not that I have any sympathy for Viacom though. Just out of curiosity, did you guys have to mess with Konami's patents? I don't know exactly what their patents say, but it sounds like it could be pretty broad. Sounds like almost any music game that uses instruments could get sued...although I guess it is up to interpration whether Konami has a case. I don't know if it is true, but I read that Activision had paid Konami for the rights to release GH, which I guess is why they haven't tried to sue them already. Oh, just got a link to the whole GH-Konami patent issue: http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=16014 Reading now.
You can not patent a type of game play, or style........otherwise there would be only one MMO, or RPG, or RTS.... You can blatently rip off game play... DD
As the resident shmup fan, I have to say: Have you ever played Gradius? It is nothing like Defender. Anyways this is a stupid lawsuit.
Contra is basically a rip of Ikari Warriors Except they made it 'side scrolling', we all know that Ikari Warriors was better!
