No. 81 is 2nd most behind Wilt's 100...plus TMac only has 4 50+ point games in his career. I wouldn't hold my breath.
If Tmac had to, he could/would do it. But I doubt any of us will ever see another 80+ point game in our lifetime.
If he is so great then why is his team 22-19? I still say Duncan is the best. He contends for the championship every year.
Even if you have low standards, being the best player in the league should at the very least guarantee that your team makes the playoffs (if you didn't miss more than 20 games). And last time I checked Kobe was no guarantee (last season anyone?). It's Tim Duncan and then Shaq.
Kobe is the only person in the league who can do this. he has no teammates. that Lakers team was designed to be the Kobe show. they all take a back seat to kobe. it would never happen if Shaq was still on that team. TMAC has Yao and even Juwan ( I'd even give him some shot attempts). if Yao is open, TMAC will pass it to him 99% of the time. that being said, the suns/sonics game was crazy. maybe if we play them TMAC and Yao would go for 50/50.
I feel sorry for Lamar Odom. He is younger and definitely more talented than Juwon Howard but he looks no different from Brian Cook in Kobe's team. Meanwhile, Juwon is averaging 25 points in the last 5 games.
Juwan? When Yao is out Lamar Odom is better than anyone on our roster. Actually Lamar Odom is better than every player that T-Mac has played with outside of Yao and Vince (Grant Hill would be on this list but 40 games in 4 years). T-Mac can't do that with our with Yao right now because we don't have the consisten shooters or even another player that would give the opposition pause when it comes to sending 3 at him. And when Yao is healthy (unless he's in foul trouble), that kind of ball hogging wouldn't cross Mac's mind. The Laker's supporting cast might not be the best, but they are just good enough to provide enough space for him to work with and just bad enough for him to be excused if he ballhogs. Oh and he's not healthy enough right now.
T-Mac just doesn't get to the line/play inside enough to get that. Not saying it will never happen, but I think Kobe is better equipped.
I think clicking on the BBS and seeing threads with Kobe in the titile, in both the GARM and NBA Dish, is enough to make me hurl. Uh, excuse me... puke city, here we come!
No, McGrady doesn't have the endurance within a game to do that. The one thing I marvel at the most about Kobe is not even his determination or skill level as a scorer, but his endurance level. To be able to put up as many shots as he does and still keep it going through the 4th and not get tired is what's most impressive. The closest person in the league to Kobe's endurance level is AI and Lebron, so if anyone ever does it again in our lifetime it will have to be AI in the next 2 years or Lebron sometime during his career. But McGrady is great and all but he's just never had that level of fitness/endurance that Kobe has. Kobe is a great scorer, no question about it, possibly will go down as the greatest scoring SG in the history of the league when it's all set and done. I really think that if Kobe can prove that he can win a championship as the primary star on a team he will be remembered with the 'immortals': Jordan, Magic, and Bird.
Lamar looked happier playing with DWade in Miami. Shaq is even better than Lamar Odom, I wonder why Kobe didn't like playing with him?
