http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1837345 The LA Times is supposedly reporting that Kobe would consider playing for the Clippers if they agree to move 10 or 12 of their home games to The Pond (their old home) in Anaheim each year. The reason? Well, apparently Anaheim is closer to Kobe's house. Just out of curiosity, I did a little mapping on Yahoo and found that the distance between Newport Beach and Anaheim is around 20 miles. The distance between Newport Beach and downtown LA is 44 miles. He's asking them to move their games for 34 freakin miles!!!. Who the hell is this guy? That would be like asking the Rockets to play 10 or 12 of their games in League City because it is closer to Galveston. WTF??? I mean, run off your coach, run off your star teammate, set the terms for your new coach and now you want a team to move its games for you? That's seriously screwed up.
Dude, I know the guy is great and people call him Jordan-esque, but hell no a team is going to play some games for him near his hometown. That's just stupid.
I am so glad we have T-Mac and don't have to deal with this nonsense. Just ridiculous. If I was the GM, I'd tell Kobe to screw himself. (Of course Kobe may have a great year and then I'd get fired).
This just in, Kobe has decided to sign with the first team whose owner agrees to wipe his butt for life.
Nothing wrong with the power. It's his screwed up personality and character that are messing things up.
Somebody needs to b****slap that dude. Well, maybe in some Colorado jail, it would happen...but that's not going to happen.
Kobe has another home in Los Angeles near El Segundo where the Lakers' practice facility is. So it's not so much the driving distance or the horrible traffic. The real motivation for Kobe is to have the team moved down to Anaheim. It's slow going, but holding some of their games there next season could move them in that direction. Kobe realizes that the Clippers are treated like an ugly stepsister in Los Angeles. It's always been a Laker town, and it always will. Not even Kobe could change that. So to get real fan support, they need to move down to Orange County where they'd be the only team on the block.
Whatever their commitments to Staples Center, it won't matter, because Kobe signing with the Clippers is like an act of God, so the Force De Majuere Clause in the agreement would kick in. Seems entirely plausible.
The Clippers actually should be playing in Anaheim...no need to be second billed to the Lakers at Staples. Actually, I've read that hte only reason why they ended up at Staples was because Sterling didn't want to drive the extra 30 miles to Anaheim, lol. But the gall of Kobe to insist that a franchise come to him...Damn. If I'm his legal defense team, I am pissed, pissed, pissed that he and his agent allowed him to look like such an ******* here.
Actually, that's 24 miles, isn't it? Which I guess doesn't make it any less ridiculous. Why doesn't he just ask them to chop down the mightiest tree in the forest with a herring? I don't see why Rudy or anyone else would want to coach this Kobe - he would obviously be Kobe's *****.
