What he is saying really doesn't make complete sense. You can still be a good teammate and win championships.. ie Lebron,Wade...Duncan, Parker Ginobli...Olajuwon,Drexler...even Jordan and Pippen. The list goes on and on so I guess my question is do you think it's a knock on Howard and trying to push him away even more ? http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/...-rather-be-winner-than-a-good-teammate-060513
From what i have read i do not think Jordan was a great teammate, but that is beside the point...i really don't have a problem with what Kobe said especially if it nets us Howard. Kobe might be a douche but this country forgives douches as long as they are successful. You have to sorta respect his singular focus (win).
good for kobe that's how plays in the 4th quarter.. he plays hero ball and his team mates lose interest. then the other team ends up winning becuz kobe likes to jack up jumpshots right in pplz faces.
Kobe is the biggest coattail rider in the world. Kobe without one or more hall of fame big men, barely breaks .500.
I take the article and his references to mean that its not all about fun, that winning a trophy is most important. I believe his is laying foundation to Dwight that its not all about having fun due to Dwight saying in the past he wants to have fun while playing. Looks like he is trying to possibly describe the Rockets as a happy go lucky team to me.
Im not sure it has much to do with Howard. I can respect his point of view on it, though I wonder if he'll really be reminiscing with old teammates 20 years from now -- he seems so aloof, teammates might not really want to be getting together with him again, champions or not.
Kobe's a competitive guy and competive ppl sometimes come off as arrogant or that they don't care what others think. Players and fans def. listen to what Kobe has to say because he has the most important thing in sports? Championships. From everything I have read Kobe is well liked by his peers from a respect level. Evey player in the NBA right now looked up to Kobe before coming into the league. There's know doubt that many players will sit back with Kobe and talk about accomplishments and failures.
Jordan and Pippen got along, they used to work out (weights) together like best friends. Pippen and Horace Grant hated each other and Jordan got along with both (he tolerated both) and made sure they got along enough to win 3 titles. Kobe would have been terrible in that situation. Pip and Grant would have ask Kobe how their ass tasted.
