It appears that one of them is going to leave. If you were the GM of the Lakers, who would you choose to keep? I'd keep Shaq. A big man can carry you a lot farther than a SG, even if it is Kobe. I would try to do a S&T with him for expiring contracts, draft picks, & at least one servicable player, or a couple of prospects. What would you do?
Plain and simple, I went with Kobe because he's only 25 and going to turn 26. Shaq is 32 and ready to finish off his decline that he's been building. I give Shaq a max of 3 more years.
I went with Shaq because he can win 3 more titles if he is surrounded by decent titles. I don't know if Kobe ever can. Plus Kobe is a nutcase.

He doesn't get along with his teammates. He has long spats with people. He doesn't listen to his coach. He refused to shoot the ball in one half against the Kings. His latest move was to try to get Coach K to coach there. I think he is an egomaniac and it will come back to haunt whatever team has him.
I agree with Mr. C. I hate Kobe and think he is a grade A arsehole. However, I would definitely keep him over Shaq due to the age factor.
If you want to be in the hunt for the next 10 years, take Kobe. Otherwise, enjoy 3 good years with Shaq, then start rebuilding from ground up. Kobe is the answer.
