This is gonna sound real stupid.... I heard this rumour that Kobe was named after a steak his mother was eating just before she gave birth. Most people I talk to think it is true, and I was wondering if it really is true, or if it is some sick joke most of the world is playing on me. It's pretty much true, except for the eating part. Here's a quote from his dad, from SI in 1998: "Kobe, Joe says, 'was named after a Kobe steak house in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. But I don't know if I should say that, because they might want the rights to his name.'" NBA.com says "his parents named him after a type of steak (kobe) seen on a restaurant menu prior to his birth." There is a Kobe steak house here in Dallas, and I must admit they have some pretty damn good food. I don't know if I'd name my kid after them though. Can you imagine nameing your kid after a resturant .... "Hey Church's, clean up you room!" ------------------ http://www.rapmusic.com/texasg/NewMavsLogo1.jpg
