Everyone in the world has Jordan to copy from, but who has succeeded, or even come close? Just one man.
True dat. Though i don't think other pro bball players have ever been that obsessed to learn every single thing about mike to perfection from how he'd fade to how he spoke to media to how he stuck out the tongue. Kobe is a less efficient Jordan with less athleticism and defense which is still going to be better than most of the league in any era. Though Kobe is probably the greatest of all time as far as catching fire like it's NBA JAM.
As one of the comments aptly puts, Why discredit Plato because he studied from Socrates? MJ is the original, Kobe is a spectacular player that's had his own legacy.
Kobe's shotmaking is probably as good as anyone ever, but the difference between them more than anything was bb iq (which translated a lot to off the ball skills), it's like night and day there, Jordan's was incredibly high, Kobe's the opposite. Even that video gives a great example, at about 1:44, take a look at the clock in jordan's shot, then take a look at both the game and shot clock in kobe's.
I bet a similar comparison could be made between the moves of any 2 random NBA players from any era, given enough minutes played and videos to choose from.
Pretty amazing! Both of these guys ran, walked, dribbled, dunked and made angry faces from time to time. It's no wonder they are so often compared.
jab steps, step backs, pull ups jumpers, double clutches, smooth, flowing, yet explosive movements, fade aways, confident hand raises, frighteningly intense stares, and footwork blessed by Apollo; yes, many NBA players have these in their repertoire, but what makes Jordan Jordan and Kobe Kobe is how well they do it. Everyone outside of Los Angeles may despise Kobe, but they, as well as Bryant, know that likability doesn't matter. It's all about the W--the work and the win.
Lin has been criticized heavily. LerBon has too. Lin is not black. Neither is Bird. Lin has hit a couple of clutch shots. Jordan has too. Lin = LeBirDan.
they should make one of these with Harden/Marbury/Francis on the ISO moves a friend showed me some clips and quite similar (dribble dribble dribble dribble dribble dribble dribble dribble dribble step back 3)
Kobe just knew his only chance of ever even coming close to surpassing Jordan would be to imitate. LeBron on the other hand saw how Kobe really never even came close to surpassing Jordan so he does his own thing.
All this video does is make Kobe look even more pathetic and less of a real man because he is literally a psychopathic Jordan wannabe. There isn't anything genuine or real in Kobe. He reminds of Patrick Bateman in American Psycho played by Christian Bale (If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you watch it. Great movie!). Kobe traveled around from country to country as a kid and never really had friends and I will bet because he was a snobby, cocky little a-hole just like he is now. I think he became obsessed with Jordan at a young age and decided that he didn't need to have friends, he would just be better than everybody by being the next Jordan and then EVERYONE would want to be his friend because he would be so great. Nope!! No one likes you Kobe. You ripped off Jordan, will never be as good as him and in the meantime you don't have any real friends. Jordan legacy = NBA God Kobe legacy = Jordan wannabe
