I didn't expect much of a Nicholas Cage Movie because I thought it would be like "National Treasure". But I went to see "Knowing" last night and I thought it was EXCELLENT! I love the idea of how they make the aliens look like angel and presumably their ruler is what we think of God. Think about this. Were the Europeans not viewed as gods too when they came to the Americas? Cortez was viewed as a god right? That's because Europeans were much more technologically advanced than the Native Americans. So Just like now for us, an alien race who could do things that we can't could seem godly to us too. The point, there is no God or gods, etc. Religion is not real.
Really? It's got a 25% score on Rotten Tomatoes... I kind of wanted to see it, but was discouraged by the poor reviews.
it looked interesting but something about made me think that it was going to be a bad movie...it had that quality to it where a good storied gets "hollywooded" and becomes lame. as clutch said the poor reviews gave me further warning also maybe its just me but lately i do not care for cage as an actor. maybe after a few friends watch it i'll make my decision but most likely a wait till out on dvd viewing for me
I kind of expected the poor reviews because it challenges Christianity. Of course, no movie will get good review if it challenges religion, especially Christianity. But if you're more of a non-religious person, it will make you wonder. I will not spoil the movie. AWESOME GRAPHICS!
Replacing S's with Z's wasn't available. When I saw the preview, it was actually bad enough to evoke the raspberry/thumbs down combo, but I figured that based off the preview it would've appealed more to the Nostradamus crowd which unfortunately is a big enough demographic to base a movie off of. And you don't have to go back to Cortez. My 360 would have freaked me the hell out in 1989. I would have had to say its either magic or aliens.
I've been waiting for this movie since December... I've wanted to see it, maybe I'll go tonight. It really looks good from the trailer, and I don't really care about the reviews for this type of movie. I could see why it could get a low rating, but this is my type of movie. I love these kinds.
Well guys, you can't say much about the movie if you've only read the reviews and watched the previews. The movie reminds me of "Final Destination" and "Armageddon". And it is not like "National Treasure" either.
Huh. Well, I know Ebert gave it four stars. I was like "huh" when I saw that, knowing that the rating on RT was so low. I plan on seeing I Love You, Man tonight, but I'll give Knowing a chance by the time it hits DVD/Blu-ray or something.
That's the problem. Final Destination and Armageddon were mediocre at best. I wouldn't mind checking it out, but calling it the best movie in years may be a stretch.
Spoiler So what did having to predict the future have to do with aliens? It made no sense. If everyone was supposed to die anyways, then why warn them 50 years earlier?? Made no sense. This movie sucked.
Klaatu would disagree... I saw it, and honestly, I felt the plot was so bland, that it must have been a remake or some old fart movie, it wasn't... thus even more disappointment. Spoiler The scene where Cage realized that the numbers meant something has the WORST acting ever. ever. The special effects at the end was alright.. I guess.. and then the whole Adam & Eve running to the Tree of Life... Shoulda seen I love you man instead.
