most overrated movie EVER! I didnt laugh at all, spent my two hour for such a naive, boring movie with super forced "happy ending". I watched it cus all those movie sites gave it very good rates, which i don't understand at all. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0478311/ http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/knocked_up/ Ps: I didnt find the 40 years old virgin funny either....
I just watched it on dvd... Btw, if super bad gonna be the same type of naive, sweet @ss happy happy bullsh!t, i will pass it too...
If you don't like the Rogen/Apatow combination in their previous work, there would be no reason to expect that you would like subsequent work by the same people. I loved 40YOV, and Knocked Up, and Superbad. I also loved Undeclared and Freaks and Geeks. Since you didn't like Knocked Up and 40YOV, I would guess you probably wouldn't like Superbad either.
I really liked Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. I thought it was the funniest out of all of the movies in the same 'genre'.
I like Harold & Kumar goes to white castle too, I was laughing non-stop to that movie, but i dont think they belong to the same genre as 40yov or any of those Apatow movies, it didnt try to be a smart, educating it was simply a relaxing funny movie and not candy @ass at all, and i also like Borat very much cus its was very smart under its stupidness.
Please explain exactly how the comedy Knocked Up was "naive." Also, what comedies are not naive to you?
I honestly don't know how anyone could not find that movie funny, except for people that just don't like that much vulgarity in their humor. But hey, people have different tastes. However, I do have to ask....what are you talking about a happy movie? It's a comedy. Jeez...doesn't even Harold and Kumar have a guy-gets-girl ending that's totally unbelievable? I'm pretty sure all comedies have happy endings otherwise they wouldn't be consider comedies, they would be considered dark comedies which is really a whole other genre entirely. Are you saying you would have liked the movie more if it ended with Seth Rogen's character deciding he wanted nothing to do with baby? Sorry, I don't see how that makes the movie any better. I do agree the ending of Knocked Up wasn't very believable, but what guy gets girl movies are? Comedies usually aren't based in reality. Besides, the ending was so short I barely even gave it a second thought, what about the other two hours of the movie? You make it sound like it was a "candy ass" feel-good comedy like You Got Mail from start to finish.
i have not seen knocked up. i've seen superbad. i've seen 40 yov. i don't get why so many of you relate those two movies outside of them merely being comedies. i thought superbad was far superior...but honestly, unless prompted i don't believe i would have thought at all about 40 yov in relation to superbad at all. same writers? director?
my point is that Knocked up is not a funny movie and not even good at all, the story unconvicing, the actors are bad(except the main blonde girl), and thats whats wrong with alot of recent Hollywood so called comedies. Not naive comedies: Shawn of the Dead Borat hot fuzz . . . (ups, almost all british) Really not alot of good comedies coming from Hollywood these days.....
40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and Superbad are three of my favorite comedies of all time. Brit comedy blows btw. If that's your thing why don't you go check out Mr. Bean's Holiday?
Wait? So you sat quietly through the scene in 40 YOV when he was getting his chest waxed? How can anyone watch that and not laugh? DD
Yes. Judd Apatow produces all of those movies and even writes and directs some of them (40yov & knocked up). Generally the same group of actors/writers contribute to all of his movies/tv shows. He basically really worked up a cult following with his show Freaks and Geeks, which is why fan boys like me look forward to everyone one of his upcoming films. Seth Rogen (the main actor in knocked up) was the writer for Superbad.
