You KNOW the McGrady camp is pushing for a trade to NY. Big market, nothing to play for and an uptempo/stat-padding system. Not to mention, NY is one of the few teams actually even considering this type of move in the first place.
No joke. Dano is untouchable and David Lee's services or Nate Robinson's are no longer needed. There is not benefit, besides breaking up Tracy's contract for future trades, in making a deal with NY.
Not quite sure what good its gonna do for Walsh to speak to McGrady's Agent... shouldnt Walsh be discussing with DM and get ready to unload Lee and Gallinari for McGrady???
It isn't as if New York has absolutely nothing we want. David Lee would be next-to-perfect as the 4/5 on the team. Wilson Chandler isn't half-bad. $3,000,000 throw-in? Expiring contracts so we can re-sign Brooks, Landry, Lowry? Future draft pick(s)? Third team involved? Follow-up deals to firm up the future of the roster? (Scola's already playing reduced minutes, are we going to re-sign him or trade him in a side deal?)
...and an injury waiting to happen at that pace. If he can't play in Adelman's uptempo system, how can he play in D'Antoni's?
Knicks can't trade their draft picks to us because there is some rule you can't trade your draft picks some number of years in a row, 3 I think.
They need to give Danilo Gallinari somehow to get T-Mac and they know it. Lee+Danilo is the only package that Morey consider from New York.
If McGrady and the Knicks decide they want to work out a deal and Morey says "no" be prepared for Tslack to get very vocal.
I really would love David Lee at our center position, the dude is playing the best ball of his career and would be better then any MLE we would get next offseason. 19 ppg 11 rpg 3 apg shooting 58% While a bit repetitive with Scola, they would dominate the boards and improve the starting lineup SO MUCH.
Don't know how things will work out but that's like Miami asking for Brooks and Landry for Jermaine O'neal. The entire future of the team for a guy who might be close to his last seasons in the NBA. Not realistic but I understand it's based on the $$.
I feel like NY has quite a bit to offer. I would take Lee back in a trade in a heartbeat. As much as I like the Chuck Wagon - we need more offensive production out of the five spot. Chuck's greatest asset to the ROX is coming off the bench as an energy guy/defensive specialist. A rotation of Scola/Lee/Landry would be one of the tops in the league. And as ROXTXIA mentioned - Lee would be perfect in our system. The only issue I have with this trade is that it strengthens our strongest position (the 4/5 spots) and does nothing to shore up our weakest (the 2/3 spots).
If Tracy thinks he got treated unfairly in Houston, just wait until he gets to NY. Wait till he says something dumb or gets a injury and is in and out of the lineup. If Walsh and Tracy think they can bulldoze DM in sending him there for crap, they are mistaken. I'd rather DM let Tracy rot on the "DNP" list. Although DM likes to collect assets, Lee could be one. Used temporarily and traded for another piece later. Does any know what kind of contract Lee has?
If we get any value back for TMAC and TMAC plays for Knicks, Knicks will suck, Utah will get top 3 pick. double loss. Never trade with Knicks.
