Does that destroy all chances for a sign and trade?
I know 2 sign & trades can't take place in one trade.
Be nice to get NY out of the running.

The only way you can sign-and-trade a player like that is if you sign him and then trade him 3 months later.

Thanks for the link mc mark!

Damn, I didn't know Allen had a regular season of 48% FG, that's quite impressive. I was never that high on Houston or Allen, always thought they were comparable. Looking at these #s, Allen is much better than Houston.

After reading that article, it does seem like NY would be out of running. I just don't see Camby/Thomas/Harrington/picks (any combination) being enough.

Personally, I don't think Webber is our savior, so by getting him or not is not that big of a deal to me, especailly if we have to give up a lot (valuable players & picks).

No, you can have multiple sign-and-trades involved in a single deal.

Last summer's four-way DAL/BOS/UTA/GS trade included 4 free agents (Fortson, Eisley, Bill Curley, and Bruno Sundov).

I like how the article mentions the Rockets'ability to sign Webber outright and one of his preferred destinations. It doesn't ultimately mean anything, maybe, but I like the concession...almost like throwing the towel in the ring...

No need to gut our roster for Webber, it's true. But come on people. There are ways of getting him. We have tradeable commodities: Shandon; Walt; KT; picks (although I'd like to trade up for Battier); yes, even the Cato-nic dud. Even if we have to make a lose-to-gain type of trade, we can still come out ahead because other players (Mo, Marc Jackson) can be enticed to play here.

With the Cap Space We could trade Webber str8 up for Cato
[since we have space they don't have to match]

    so Los/Walt/Cato for Webber
Sac gets a Defensive Center behind Vlade
a hard Working Energizer of the bench [LOS]
and a guy who will be off their books next year
[for that reason alone I want to keep Walt]

Cause If Webber REALLY wants to go . . .
They may not have a Choice

Look what we took for Pippen
[Agreed that Pippen ain't webber but he was
thought of in this vain .. .. and maybe
they are as stupid as we are thinking we
could make something of these scrubs. . .
but pippen wanted out. . . and we didn't
    have much choice]

Are those regular season numbers? Houston is a tough guard who plays well with contact -- which is why he performs well in the post-season.

Allen is great shooter (not that Houston is not) but would rather avoid than initiate contact.

There were lots of differences with Pippen. He WANTED out. We WANTED him gone...at all cost. We still got the better deal in the Quitten deal...till we signed Cato.

Webber is a free agent. Do you think we would have sign and traded Quitten for the scrubs we got from Portland???

Which is perfect timing... 3 months from now is August 12, 11 days after the day they can acquire Webber...

Thanks; it sure looked like an obvious plant.

Speaking of planted, what's up with BootlegSports.com and/or NBAtalk? [IMG]

Good question. Either way, no one is telling me.

Anyone want to buy a shoulder brace autographed by Thomas Hamilton?

What a shaft job that he proposes for the Rox. Trade Mobley and Taylor for Houston and Thomas, I'll pass thank you very much.
