The Knicks? damn, that's almost as bad as hakeem going to the Jazz.

if the raptors are offering that much money there isn't a chance in hell hakeem is staying here, though I'll be sad to see him go. I was under the impression that toronto didn't have anything -other- than the midlevel exception to offer.

I think Dream is bathing in all the attention and the sense of "being wanted" from others. Does it provide him some leverage for him? Sure.

However, at the end of the day (I hope that day is no later than midweek!!) I believe he'll still be a Rocket.

    BTW...coffee's ready. [IMG]

Actually, DaDream to NYC would be pretty funny. Two different sets of fans booing him.

Hakeem is going on the Chris Webber "show me the love" tour. Hopefully the result will be the same.

Question: Does New York's recent lame-brained signing of Allen Houston make Marcus Camby a possibility for the Rox through a sign and trade?

Gascon,I don't think that the Knicks are going to trade Camby, but I think there might be a remote possibility of getting Kurt Thomas in exchange for Hakeem since they have also signed Weatherspoon as well.
I don't think Hakeem will end up going to the Knicks,Toronto seems the more likely choice.

Time is really getting short, the Rockets have to make a move very quickly,I think that they should renounce the rights to Hakeem and sign Taylor, and Norris to long term contracts, because they are not going to wait much longer for this to drag on in my opinion.Shandon Anderson should not be resigned becuause he will be asking for too much money and that should be spent on trying to get Marc Jackson.

I'm not sure if the Knicks would part with Camby, but he poses some interesting possibilities.

The Knicks are over the LTax, so any contract in which Dream S&T's for less than Camby's $6.25M is a big savings. If they S&T Dream for $5.0M they not only save $1.2M in contracts, but an additional $1.2 against the LTax. Effectively they have signed Dream for $3.8M.

This would also be true in Dreams' year 2 as Camby jumps to $6.7M. The real impact for the NYK's is year 3 where Hakeem retires and they no longer have 2 more years of Camby's contract.

From the Rockets perspective, Camby is slight of build for a WC center (about the size of Keon Clark). I checked the stats and Camby does have good numbers against WC playoff teams. The downside is his remaining 4 years for $28.0M.

It would be a very interesting offer.

I would love to get Marcus Camby, although the chances seem slim, and we would need to consider how he is utilized. I suppose he could be a lightweight center. Shaq would use him like a post-chicken dinner napkin...or worse...

Dream to New York would involve some massive horse trading. The Knicks have too many forwards already and have already used the 4.5 mil exception on Weatherspoon. Toronto does seem the safer bet; but we'll see. Maybe you could pull a 3-way trade somewhere.

Did Allan Houston actually sign yet?

ROX-Yeah, I think 3 ways will be looked, especially with a team like New York, to see if there's any way to parlay what they give us plus what we have for a center. I don't think they'd give up Camby, unless they guaranteed Spoon a starting slot, which would have to be PF since Houston/Sprewell cover the wings. We have ultimate leverage on NY, though since they're out of the big exception and cap, and so we can get probably a close to equal return a la the Jones/Mason for Mashburn/Brown S/T of last year.

Another team that we'd need a 3rd party with is Indiana as their main bait (Bender or Harrington) would be of little use for us.

    Shaq would probably agree.

If Marcus Camby & Eddie Griffin was on the same team, who would throw the first punch?

Does not need to be each other, could be other teammates, coaches, opposing teams?

I'm starting to think more and more than Hakeem is just enjoying his free-agency, and will end up re-signing.

If Dream is just enjoying his free agency he is screwing up the Rockets chance of keeping their team intact like he wanted. It is a good chance that Mo and Shandon might get impatient and walk.

There has been zero talk of that, Rocketsmill. If the Rockets thought that was going to happen, they would just renounce Dream.
