Two sources told the New York Times that Donnie Walsh, Daryl Morey and Arn Tellem held "substantive discussions" on Sunday about a possible trade to send Tracy McGrady to New York.

The teams are trying to make the deal without the assistance of a third team. The Knicks could offer a package including expiring contracts and a young player, perhaps Jordan Hill. The Rockets reportedly do not have interest in Jared Jeffries or Eddy Curry.

A rumored three-way deal involving the Wizards would not be possible now that Caron Butler has been traded to Dallas.

I don't think anyone on their roster is much of an upgrade for us.

I wish Morey would be talking to the Blazers :(
although not really realistic, but still

Jordan Hill could turn out to be a good player in this league, the others are expirings, so that will still help is in pursing our offseason goals of getting a big named star to come to Houston

Lux tax line, Rox looking to get under it.

    Actions speak louder than words.

    So much for being predatory.

It's got to involve Jordan hill + (PLUS) David Lee.. Also Morey would have to deal Scola or Landry out in a separate trade.

Chandler would be the best thing we could squeeze out of NY.

If it is Jordan Hill, then Im guessing:

    Mcgrady

    for

    Hill, Harrington(exp), Mobleys contract

How can it, if we can only save 7-8M when Tracy comes off the books, and that too only if Luis and Kyle aren't re-signed? Jordan Hill was the 8th pick,he will cut into the salary cap as well.

If no better offer presents itself I would probably do McGrady for Harrington/Hill/Darko deal. We take back less salary in this deal plus there's enough talent being moved in to potentially make us better.

If this deal goes down, I wouldn't be stunned if Shane and/or Luis get dealt for expirings and picks or something along those lines.

Whenever I hear Morey or Gersson on 610 or in that video recently posted, just makes me wonder. They talk so much about the future. Might be time to get there.

Of course, these talks might also pull in Chicago, so who knows. Once Morey knows what the Rox will get, call Chicago and say, OK, this is what the deal is....

So you know for sure that Morey was never interested in ripping off another team, he simply wanted to get below the lux tax line?

More likely he didn't want to add on salary for no apparent gain, nobody has come to the dance SO FAR and so the next best result is to get below the tax line (and make $5million more)

No, I don't know for fact anything but I do know that Mark Cuban is taking on massive salary and a double tax hit to try to win with Dirk.

Should we do the same? Depends upon what you think Yao's recovery will be....

Look, I like what DM has done, but the BS that Les is willing to go over the taxline is getting a bit old.

He says he would do that, but every year he is scrambling like mad to get under it.

Either way, NY is fine, if that is all you can get for him.

If NY is the best we can do, i'd rather just sit on Mcgrady's contract. Al Harrington's been a chucker in his last 2 teams he's played for... GState and NY. They dont play any defense. When you bring him to Houston, he's not gonna have the discipline to play defense.

This deal will only stunt the growth of our younger guys. NO DEAL that we make RIGHT NOW is gonna lead us to the championship this year. So there's not urgency needed to make a deal.

The Butler/Haywood would have made us a 2nd round playoff team AT BEST this year and we wouldn't have much flexibility next year since we'd still have 11mil owed to Butler. Haywood wouldnt have signed here to play backup mins when he could a starter role and money elsewhere.

All you guys saying david lee need 2 wake up and smell the coffee because the knicks are not letting him go. Just give up on that boat because he is staying with the knicks. McGrady may or may not be with the knicks but as the days count down its looking like he'll be with the Rockets for the remainder of the season
