Knicks are offering Chandler for Fernandez, but the Trailblazers are more interested in a 1st round pick. Morey's deal didn't just gut NY's assets for a Carmelo trade. It makes it hard to trade for even a roleplayer like Fernandez. The lack of draft picks makes it harder for the Knicks to trade for talent. The inability to trade for talent makes the draft picks more valuable. The Knicks trade is like wine. It gets better with age. Way to go, Morey! http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/knicks/post/_/id/286/knicks-in-the-mix-for-rudy-fernandez
Please Knicks...please trade Chandler for Rudy and a 1st. There will be no chance they get Carmelo by trade if they do this. They would have traded 3 first round picks, and Denver has no use for Rudy when they have JR Smith.
Knowing the Knicks' luck they will trade Chandler for Rudy, and Rudy will go back to Spain where he can be Brandon Roy. lmao
That would actually be a good trade for both sides. The blazers could use a 3 or competition at the 3 for batum and the knicks could use a sg. Rudy would play well in the uptempo play of mike along with felton, randolph, kelenna, amare, turiaf, gallinari and company. I don't know what the blazers are looking for, but that would be a good trade.
I found it somewhat hilarious that the writer referred to the deal as the "Jared Jeffries trade". Might as well refer to Kevin Martin as the pick up from the Joey Dorsey deal.
I am a little surprised Fernandez didn't want to come to Houston. I know he wants to start and that isn't happening here but I read an article where he said he was homesick and that ever since his best bud, and fellow Spaniard, Sergio Rodriguez was dealt he didn't feel part of the team. If he wants to be in a more Hispanic/Spanish speaking community, Houston could have offered that along with Scola being able to make him feel at home. Saying that, now that we acquired Lee, a move for Rudy seems unlikely but still surprised me why he didn't include the Rox in the conversation originally.
Why would that matter. He's the richest owner in sports and have shown he will go into lux tax land. If chandler can outplay batum, it makes them a better team and his salary wont be that high if negotiated.
I read somewhere he submitted a list of 10 teams he would like to before the draft. The Blazers had offers but did not deal him as they were/are asking too much. The Rockets may or may not be on that list of 10 teams. I'd say the Rockets are more likely not a choice for the Blazers as they don't project to be a team with a first rounder in the teens next year.
If negotiated? Seriously? Do you think any of these salaries (save max players) aren't negotiated? They drafted Elliott Williams at the 2 and Luke Babbitt at the 3 in the first round. They signed Wesley Matthews for a good bit of money. Brandon Roy and Nicolas Batum are the incumbent starters. Wilson Chandler doesn't really represent a huge upgrade on what they've got. Just because their owner will spend, there's no reason to do it here. I don't understand the fanfare around Fernandez. Thus far, he's proven to be a decent rotational guard with perhaps the capability of starting. A rich man's Spanoulis. Based on the reactions, I would have thought this were Ginobili wanting out in his prime.
I don't think it's such a bad title. The motivation for the Knicks was to dump Jeffries' contract for an expiring, not really to get Tracy McGrady.
Well IMHO Wilson Chandler can do a good enough impersonation of Ariza. Why not trade our 2011 pick to NY for WIlson CHandler so they can get Fernandez? If we do that it like we got Lee for just a low draftpick.
