What does everything think about the ticket prices of the upcoming KISS Aerosmith concert? $250 or $1000 per ticket! if i was a BIG BIG fan of those bands, I would feel HOSED, i mean they've been around for 25 years, the big fans have ALL prolly spent hundreds/thousands of dollars on their music, concerts, tshirts in their lifetime and now on their final tour, they charging 250-1000 a ticket! The economy is down, and these old geezers are out milking the public for all they can... Some KISS fans dismiss this by saying that Gene always says they were always in this (music) just for the money and girls, but come on, the fans have made all of ya'll rich and famous and for the "Final" tour ya think its cool to bend over the fans and give it to em one last time?
I don't know about Aerosmith, but KISS definitely is. They've got a guy (Tommy Thayer, I think) dressed up as Ace Frehley! Pure BS. Ace says "when we did the Farewell Tour (a few years back), I took it for what it was". Good for Ace, although I'm sure he's just too lazy to tour. I don't mind the prices so much, but at least show people the real thing. Geez.
Maybe this thread should be merged with the "sellout" thread... I loved KISS when I was a kid, but come on. Isn't it time to let it go? Didn't KISS have a "farewell" tour 10 years ago? And Aerosmith. Don't get me started...
Are they not collecting enough money with their social security checks? This thread should be moved to the Debate and Discussion Forum.
Actually it was 3 years ago. But they STILL kick ass live. Anyone gonna check out the Cher "farewell" tour? LOL.
I don't think they're ripping anyone off. If people are willing to shell out that kind of dough than the product is obviously worth that much. If you think it is ridiculous to charge so much, vote with your pocketbook, so to speak. Personally, I wouldn't go unless they were paying me $250 to $1000.
yeah i saw kiss at what I thought was for the last time in 2001 this is getting a lil r****d, all these bands saying its their farewell and then coming back out on the road.. Ozzy with No More Tours, Tour and then Retirement Sucks Tour
Is it a lot of money? Yeah, but who cares. People are paying the money. You have two legendary acts playing full shows. The shows are near sellouts every night. If people are willing to pay for it then it is wise for KISS/Aerosmith to charge for it. As for the Ace/Tommy Thayer thing. Yeah, Ace is not currently on tour with KISS but from the things I have read and heard Tommy is doing a wonderful job filling in. I saw the last "official" KISS reunion show in Charleston SC with the original members, Gene,Paul,Ace,Peter. It was an awesome concert and one of the best I had ever seen. Sure they are old but they put on a tremendous show, a show that beats a lot of the shows out there today! I would probably go see KISS on tour this year if they came near where I live.
They aren't ripping the fans off if the fans are stupid enough to shell out that kind of cash for these two depends undergarment wearing bands.
Kinda like The Who, right Tex? Deuce: I wonder how they're handling that Ace thing. Are they just pretending like he's Ace, or what? He's wearing the same makeup I think.
That reminds me of that Marriott Hotel or Embassy Suites or Holiday Inn commercial (I think it is Holiday Inn) where this guy goes to listen to Kiss and then sees them later take off their makeup and realize that they were other people. He says "Hey, you guys aren't Kiss!" and one of them looks at him and says "Yea, but we slept at a Marriott Hotel or Embassy Suites or Holiday Inn (or whatever) lastnight!"
Who cares?! If you think an Aerosmith/Kiss concert is worth $200-$1000 a ticket then pay it and go. If not, wait a couple years. I'm sure they will do another farewell tour, probably at your county fair, and you can see em for $20. As long as these two bands have been around I'm sure that they will continue to tour until there is NO profit to be made.
Aerosmith owes me two free concerts from the both times I saw them and their terrible concert back when their lead singer was whacked out on heroin. They were awful. Still are.
They are not trying to fool people into thinking Tommy Thayer is Ace. They are not trying to hoodwink anyone. Thayer is just playing the "role" of the Spaceman for the show.
Just checked finally and the prices for the Dallas show are $41-139. For SA they're $45-125. Sounds pretty reasonable when you consider you're seeing two headliners.
ok this is the deal on the high dollar tix Gold Ticket $250 Guaranteed seat in first 15 rows collectable laminate exclusive gold package t-shirt Platinum Ticket $1000 Guaranteed seat in first 5 rows One Show Only Official KISS VIP Laminate. Backstage experience with KISS in makeup after their show. One individual photograph per ticket with band's professional camera. No fan cameras permitted. Exclusive Platinum event t-shirt, size M, L, XL, XXL. Set of real guitar picks. Collectible autographed by all four members.
I'm not a fan of KISS or Aerosmith, but I could see going just to say that I went . . . That "Platinum Ticket" is really not THAT bad of a deal, when you consider what that type of ticket would go for on ebay. Front-row or the first five would likely run 400 to 600 a ticket and you don't get those other little benefits. But yeah, that's pretty freakin' outlandish. I wouldn't even drop $250 for one DMB ticket, much less a grand!
