http://www.sltrib.com/jazz/ci_2627705 Utah's Kirk Snyder said he was wrong to talk smack in front of Houston's bench during Utah's 99-85 loss to the Rockets on Monday. But was it the first time? No, according to Houston guard Bob Sura. After the game, Sura claimed Snyder used a racist comment in the February contest, which Utah won 99-92. "It was a bush-league play. You don't do that stuff in this league," Sura said of Snyder's actions on Monday. "Our last game, he made a racist comment to one of our players. I'm not a fan." Told of Sura's comments, Snyder denied making any such comment. He couldn't deny his actions on Monday, as everyone in the Delta Center watched him make a driving layup in the third quarter, then continue running to the Houston bench where he stopped and gestured. Houston coach Jeff Van Gundy quickly jumped up and went out on the floor and was called for a technical. The technical free throw, plus one made by Snyder for getting fouled on the layup, cut Houston's lead to 68-66. But that was it for Snyder's gloating, and Utah's comeback, as coach Jerry Sloan yanked him and chewed him out on the bench. "He's not Michael Jordan," said Sloan, who for a brief moment thought he might spend his birthday breaking up a brawl. "Michael was good enough where he might be able to say something, but I don't see that in Kirk just yet." After taking Snyder out of the game and giving him an earful, Sloan waved in the direction of the Houston bench, letting the Rockets know Snyder was dealt with.
Here ya go, Pimp! http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/3106890 After sweeping to the rim to score through a Dikembe Mutombo foul, Utah's Kirk Snyder celebrated by wagging his tongue in front of the Rockets' bench. "That's bush-league," Bob Sura said. "You don't do that kind of stuff in the NBA. In our last game, he made a racist comment to one of our players (Jon Barry). I'm not a fan." Sura and Barry would not elaborate, and Snyder denied making any comments when the teams played last month. When coach Jeff Van Gundy screamed for the technical foul, official Jack Nies hit him instead. Mehmet Okur put in the free throw, Snyder hit his, and the Jazz had a 16-2 run.
We wouldn't want you to waste the 10 seconds it would take you to find the story yourself. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/3106890
Yeah, I was impressed by Sloan in this case. And on the surface it is a classy move. But he's a smart man. At the moment, his team does not measure up talent-wise with the rest of the league. The last thing he needs is for average players on his team to rile up opponents. His team wins by outworking and outsmarting the opponent. A mad opponent does not get outworked. By saying that "he's not Michael", one could intrerpret that to mean if they were supremely talented, they could win in spite of such arrogance, and then it would not matter to Sloan if a buffoon (Snyder) irritates his opponent, which makes Sloan's motives far less pure.
I'm never been a fan of gloating especially when it includes derogatory remarks. If it's true, Snyder is a piece of trash. I've always respected Jerry Sloan, even through my most hateful years for the Utah Jazz. Stuart
He really is an idiot--check out this article-what kind of fool doesn't know the words to Happy Birthday ?? You just sing the same crap over and over again ... http://sltrib.com/jazz/ci_2627703 Butchered birthday song Monday was Sloan's 63rd birthday, and as is their prerogative, the Jazz's veterans forced rookies Kirk Snyder and Kris Humphries to serenade the coach during the morning shootaround with a round of "Happy Birthday." If that's what it was. "They absolutely butchered it," judged Raja Bell. "Brutal." Added Curtis Borchardt, "Snyder didn't know the words. Who doesn't know the words to 'Happy Birthday'?" Humphries acknowledged the performance was not good, but blamed his counterpart. "Snyder always brings us down in that situation," he joked. "He represents both of us, but it's hard having someone who doesn't pull their weight when it comes to singing." The Jazz normally have good luck on Sloan's birthday. Since he became coach in 1988, the Jazz had played on seven March 28s before Monday, with a 5-2 record.
So if it was a racist comment towards barry, wouldn't it be towards sura too? I knew it! Sura is really Black!
A black Jazz player making racist comments toward an opposing white player?? Why didn't the entire Jazz team just beat him up? Half of their team is white.
I ilke how the one black guy in the whole state of Utah is making racist comments at the white guys on the Rockets bench
