man, good players are dropping left and right. i hope the trend stops. gotta watch some quality basketball in the long winter.
Hopefully this will stop people... like DD... from calling for him in every freaking thread. Seriously, I don't understand the irrational love for this guy at all.
He signed a contract and hit his ceiling, as happens so much in the NBA. Hard to believe there was a time Hinrich was considered an untouchable cornerstone of the franchise. This means Derrick Rose, the next mega-star of the NBA, will play more minutes.
I think his defense is being underrated here. He's a streaky shooter but the key is his FG% isn't sub-40%. Anyhow, any player Kevin Pritchard is even sniffing also perks my interest.
Setting sights on Ben Gordon Landry+Francis(expiring)+Wafer(non-guaranteed) for Gordon(BYC) Head(expiring) for TE($5.2M) Gordon, Alston, Brooks McGrady, Barry Artest, Battier Scola, Hayes, Harris Yao, Deke, Dorsey
You guys who don't understand how good Hinrich would be in Houston are seriously underestimating the need for a shooter at the PG spot in a low post oriented offense. DD
Hinrich is the only attainable point guard in the league that would be a serious improvement over Rafer. It's obvious why people want him.
Um, have you checked his shooting percentages? A 41% career shooter is not exactly awesome, especially given his cap busting salary. You get all Don Quixote about players who really suck and then start a thousand threads about them as if you are adding some new insight with your 9 posts a day. Rafer Alston sucks. We get it.
You are seriously underestimating how bad Hinrich is. He gets wide-open shots and doesn't make them. He isn't the same player anymore. He's better than Rafer (which is saying absolutely nothing) but his contract is a millstone.
His contract goes down every year....until it expires. And an incremental increase in shooting percentages would help this team a lot....just a small 5% increase would mean much more room to operate on the low block. Which is why I wanted Blake or Udrih or Hinrich etc...sometimes small increases are monumental for team performance overall. Anyway, it doesn't matter, Hinrich is hurt.....and we are stuck with Bricker Alston. DD
I'd rather keep Rafer just because of his contract. Hinrich is not shooting so much better as to be worthy of all this drool over him. Seeing DD's posts I would think Hinrich is an automatic 50/40/90.
Hinrich makes twice as much as Rafer for 15% upgrade. But he IS or would be an upgrade. Younger, solid 3 point shooter, gets to the line a little more, better free throw %. Can guard and play both guard spots. Using the Clutch measure, Hinrich in place of Rafer taking Rafer's same exact shots, its an extra point a game. If he made $7.5 mil instead of $10 mil I'd definitely be interested.
Totally agree. This is too good of a msg board to have all these Hinrich/Marbury/Tinsley (freaking TINSLEY) threads.
