I like a lot of what Kinky says. However, I find it offensive that he wears Army Airborne pins and Silver Dolphins with his suit. I've never jumped out of a non-civilian plane, but I do have my "fish", so I feel justified in calling him out on this. Kinky Friedman is a publicity stunt. Nothing beyond that. He claims that a submarine "widow" in east Texas gave the dolphins to him. That is unacceptable. I don't know who she is, but her husband didn't die as a result of submarine service. Even if he had it wouldn't give her the right to bestow hard-won military qualifications upon prissy wanna-be politicians. Anyone that wears dolphins must first have them "tacked on". I therefore call on any of you who meet Kinky to punch him as hard as you can in the chest over the insignia. The standard for this kind of practice would be a lot of bleeding over a 2-3 day period. The left arm should be unavailable for several days as well. I'm not saying that Kinky would then be fit to wear dolphins, but at least he would feel the beginning stages of what it takes to wear them. Politicians shouldn't slap our military in the face. That is what Kinky has done. Anybody that votes for Kinky is an idiot. I like his lip-service, but he isn't worthy of living here, much less being the Governor.
Perhaps you could let him know that it offends you before you kick his @ss? I would suggest that perhaps he is not trying to insult you and just doesn't understand. Of all the reasons not to vote for Kinky this doesn't exactly seem like the best.
It's not a matter of offending me. He's wearing military insignias having never served. It should offend everyone.

Who cares if he wears military medals or not. It not important. Why is the military the only ones who need special recognition for their deeds. Should CEO's who bring their companies record years be given a special medal also? What about the garbage man of the year. Should he be given a special medal also? The military need for constant self praise and aggrandizement is ridiculous.

I agree with you that people spend too much time praising the military. I may have gotten a little carried away, but what I was trying to get across was that Kinky is a joke in that he is nothing more than staged production. As others have said, he is stealing votes from real candidates. As for your analogies, I understand what you're trying to say, but the insignia's he wears are not medals, they are warfare specialty designators. It isn't about recognition, it's the fact that he is trying to literally trick people into voting for him on the presumption that he has military experience. Something this state has an inexplicable hard-on for. Also, I had a few beers that night I made this thread, so I should probably apologize for saying that people who voted for him were idiots.

1. No vote is a wasted vote. He got the 47,000+ signatures. He is legally and legitimately on the ballot. He is a real candidate. If you don't want him in office, don't vote for him. 2. Kinky is not trying to trick anyone into thinking he was in the military. No one I've heard (and I've followed this race closely) has made any insinuations about any possible military service. If a widow gave him the insignia and asked him to wear it, he has obviously felt some duty to this woman to do as she asks. I get tired of "voting for ________ is a wasted vote". As I've said many times over, if you don't like a particular candidate, don't vote for them. If you like a particular candidate, regardless of their party, their chance of winning, or what a widow asks him to wear then vote for that candidate.
