One of my good friends is a H-Town transplant from Sac Town.
This weekend he went back to visit friends and family there.
Upon his return he told me funny stories about how people in Nor Cal are going bandwagon crazy about the Warriors, and also that local word is the Kings want JVG and that the Maloofs plan to stop at nothing to get him.

I know this rumor may seem like senseless nonsense to some right now,
but I just wanted to encourage some clutchfans that were going out to the playoff games at TC to make a poster or two to show JVG some love.

I think he will stick around, but after this magnificent season and the coach of the year consideration, JVG may be one of the most talked about coaches this off season.

well it would make sense for the kings to want a coach like jvg. But i dont see jvg wanted to go somewhere else and cleanup another mess.

but its good for jvg b/c it will increase his price tag.

has there ever been a case in the NBA, like in the NFL,where a high first round pick is given for the head coach?

only way they are getting him is if we lose the first round and JVG is fired

im pretty sure your "rumor" is 100% baseless.

If JVG wants to go to a team like the Kings when he could stay with the Rox. By all means let the man walk.

wonder if we'd then go after Rick Adelman?

Jeff desertheyve Coach Of The Year award but The NBA will give to someone else because we still get no respect. Who care we will get the NBA trophy to show who is the best coach in NBA. Guys like my friends said bring Coach of the Year poster to the game to show Jeff our apprecitation.

I don't think we directly could trade JVG for a pick.

However, we could maybe work out an agreement where the Rox agree not to resign JVG, and in return, the Kings either agree to "sell" us their pick for "cash considerations" or trade the pick for one of our scrubs.

However, it would all depend on JVG agreeing to cooperate with all this, and given that the Rox would become his opposition, I don't see JVG looking to help us out.

Why ould he leave with a team that consists of the best Center and the entier league and the best allround primeter player in the game?not to mention guys like battier and hayes are typical GUNDY GUYS. besides Artest, name me one guy in that team that plays DEFENSE?.WE all want alot of things, but that dosent equate to us getting them. that includes the maloofs.

    i agree.

i'm not sure how long the consideration lasts for all of the awards (how about deserving individuals - 6th Men, Most Improved, Rookie - that were on teams that didn't make it to the playoffs?), but it only helps, i think, that Dallas and Toronto got upset in their first games while we won ours.

Well Mike Bibby is always defending himself from questions about his weight, desire and overall suckiness this year. I'd say he's getting better at it.

If JVG can't tolerate Bonzi, how could he co-exist with Artest? So a big shake of the team is the first thing for JVG if he goes to Sac town.

Here is some more rumor from yahoo. It doesn't mention Van Gundy. They are looking at either John Whisenant or PJ Carlesimo

    Kings mulling over ex-Monarchs coach
    By Adrian Wojnarowski

    Sunday, Apr 22, 2007 11:49 pm EDT
There is an unorthodox but intriguing scenario under consideration within the Sacramento Kings' front office about replacing head coach Eric Musselman.

Here's the idea, according to a Western Conference official: Hire two-time Sacramento Monarchs WNBA championship coach John Whisenant, now the team's general manager, and bring along ex-Kings star and New Mexico State coach Reggie Theus as his top assistant and eventual successor.

Whisenant, considered a top defensive mind, had been under serious consideration a year ago before Musselman was hired. He's well-regarded by Petrie, and the owners, Joe and Gavin Maloof, who have known Whisenant since his days as an assistant coach at the owners' alma mater, the University of New Mexico.

Most of all, the hiring of Whisenant would be a way to groom Theus, the 13-year NBA veteran who has developed into a hot coaching commodity. After leaving Rick Pitino's staff at Louisville, Theus led New Mexico State to the NCAA tournament this season, his second as the Aggies' head coach.

New Mexico State went 25-9 and gave Texas a tough game in the opening round of the NCAAs. Theus played parts of five seasons for the Kings in the 1980s and spent one year as a broadcaster for the franchise after his retirement.

Another name that has been prominently mentioned with the Kings job, a league source said, is San Antonio Spurs assistant P.J. Carlesimo.
