Kings are getting serious about keeping Cousins in line. They brought back his high school coach. Many players grow up with their high school coach as a father figure. It's a fantastic move by the Kings.

The guy has lots of experience training big men, since he worked 10 years for the Pete Newell Big Man Camp.

I still think the Kings to surround him with more veteran players like a Battier that understands the NBA grind.

Wow, this has to be a first. The Kings must be really worried about DeMarcus's ability to adapt mentally to the NBA.

Looks like the Kings are committed to doing whatever it takes to help Cousins succeed. Hope it's enough.

Wow, that's weird. But makes sense. Watching him in Summer League, it was really obvious that Cousins had a huge chip on his shoulder....it's what makes him a good player. But it will also get him into trouble as he nearly got into a couple fights in Summer League.

Sports loves guys like Cousins because these types of guys are the fiercest (and most ruthless) competitors. But they only love them if they can strike that balance between bad boy and uncontrollable.

You know it must have killed Westphal to say that. Ready to jump to the NBA... sure, as soon as one of his former high school students who couldn't be controlled in college did.

If Cousins can keep his head on straight though, he looks like he has tremendous potential.

The only thing standing between Cousins and around 150 million dollars in career earnings is Cousins.

Yeah, but does assistant coach necessarily mean someone who is Xs and Os, hopeful to become head coach someday?

perhaps the guy is what he is, a great communicator and handler of younger personalities, with some specific ball coaching experience. Dont knowwhathes getting paid, but chump change relative to the importance of Cousins working out. Evans could probably also benefit...heck, the whole team maybe could.

I know nothing about the guy, so could be way off - may just be a posse hire type move. But if not, assistant coachs seems like an adequate title.

it is okay...but one day, to be considered a great one, the baby must leave the nest and become a true warrior

I know College and the NBA are two different things but throughout the college year teams really went after DeMarcus and tried to get in his head. As the season continued he kept showing that he is mature than people think and he didn't let those other teams get in his head.
