    RIP Jaime!

That movie, and his story, is one of the inspirations for me going back to school to be a math teacher :)

Thank you very much for sharing that... I just sent it to one of my professors to share with a couple of our education classes.

That was a great, inspirational movie. Olmos was terrific playing this guy. Sorry to hear the real life guy passed.

I still hate calculus with a vengeance, though.

It would have been nice to do a "where are they now?" between him and his kids (the original ones)...to see how everyone turned out.

Edward James Olmos last week was on a morning show was REALLY praising Jaime Escalante very sympathetically. He was leading a charge gathering donations to prolong Escalante's life a little more so he can have a respectful exit...

He claimed Stand and Deliver was the most watched movie ever in the US. Because every school in the nation plays it every year. I can see that.

I watched the movie last night. I hadn't seen it since early in high school and forget how good it is.

Olmos has been a supporter of Escalante since he did the movie, glad to hear he was still trying to help him until the end, doesn't surprise me though because Olmos is a pretty stand up guy.

I agree about that Stand and Deliver notion as well.
