I think if it were on cable it would have gone longer, but there was a lot of blood on that dudes ear at the end, and that was kind of too much for CBS

What, so you think CBS sent the ref an e-mail and told him to stop the fight if Thompson's ear exploded?

and the dude's eyes were rolling back into his head with each punch...maybe the guy who made that video should have got a close up of that too :p

Thompson's facial expressions when he was getting brutalized in his face were hilarious.

It reminded me of punch out on NES.

The thing is that Thompson took heavy shots in Round 2 as well before he took Kimbo to the ground and landed 60 (I counted) uncontested blows to the head in the final minute.

think most agree that something was up..how do you allow thompson to even fight with the tumor growing out his ear? you gotta have him get that drained before he fights.

Was the person who made the video trying to say that Kimbo tapped out?? Because he didn't. He lifted his arm up for a second and looked like he was about to.. but then backed off and kept fighting.

If you watched it, and listened to the commentary, they even said "Kimbo signaled that he is OKAY"

This is a little off topic, but after this fight, I went online and watched all of his street fights on YouTube that brought him fame. I'm sorry, I wasn't that impressed. Sure, the dude could easily kick my ass, but some of the fighting techniques of the guys he was fighting were hilarious. They were just plain terrible fighters. My favorite two fights are the white guy that is pretty ripped that cracks his knuckles for the camera and the guy that takes 1 punch from Kimbo, takes a knee, refuses to get back up, then some guy goes "I got money on this fight, you better get up" and then he gets up, takes about 2 more punches, then quits. LOL.

I don't think it's fixed. Thompson just sucks.

The thing that gets me is why is the media trying to hype up Kimbo so much? I was watching the local news and the sports anchor was saying how good he is. Kimbo's got:

    No grappling skills,
    He sucks on the ground,
    He gets winded easily,
    He can't kick.

He can punch and sure, he can kick my ass seven ways to Sunday, but still...

    This.

I hope Kimbo gets better, because I think that he'd be a fun fighter to watch, but as far as this fight goes, any average UFC guy would have probably handed Kimbo a loss on the ground.

    Thompson was just horrible.

AVERAGE? WTF is "average"? So... you think someone other than Thompson? :p

I don't know if anyone here watched UFC 1. They had HUGE DUDES against smaller dudes, and the smaller dudes won. I remember this guy broke his hand from so many times hitting this huge black dude who thought he was going to win.

Thompson is like a bad D-Leaguer at this point. :D

And yeah, this EliteXC thing (at least the Kimbo fight) was kinda like UFC1...except sloppier.

Anyone who thinks the fight was fixed is not very intelligent when it comes to MMA. When Kimbo was on the ground he was getting hit, but it was never anything that put him in danger. He was still making an attempt to defend himself, and there was no danger of him being KO'ed at all. Now at the end of the fight Kimbo not only popped the ear, which looked to be a very recent injury that he should have had drained prior to the fight, but James was on the verge of sustaining a lot more damage from being completely knocked out. The ref's job is to look out for the fighters safety, and he did just that. Thompson was in danger of being hit with a lot more of those shots if the ref had not stepped in. You could argue it was about 2 more of those shots premature, but I don't think it was a bad stoppage at all. If anything this fight exposed Kimbo to those who are not hardcore MMA fans. Put him up against almost ANY UFC HW and he gets his ass handed to him. Kimbo will always have a chance because he has one punch knockout power, but he lacks in every other area.
