Les was just on -Said that he is excited about T-mac and hasn't recalled the last time a player his type was traded so early -Loves the moves they have made -Thinks USA Basketball seems disintresed in Olymipcs -Arena and Financial aspect of the Rockets has still some work to do
JVG -Seems pretty content with his team -Seems ready to go to battle with who he has got -Doesn't see any any changes upcoming Is it just me or does he give any personal questions to Carol? I mean is he not even in the room when moves are made? He made the same type of comment on draft night
J. Howard is on -From Chicago...not a Cubs Fan -This is one of the most talented teams hes been on -Likes the YAO-T-Mac punch and says it has the talent to be a special tandem esp since they are young -Howard just wants to win...seems to have a great attitude -Respects JVG and willing to do whatever it takes -Said hes been bounced around becasue of his contract and respect to cap space -He says he brings experience and leadership to the Rockets -Will be number 5(the new cat!) I wasn't too high on him when we got him but he really sounds like he wants to win and after hearing him I think he's a great addition
Thats all accurate except the part about his not being a cubs fan. He said he is a die-hard cubs fan and he's hurting right now.
Mo-T now in the hot seat -Mo has the longest tenure as a Rocket -Likes the turnover of the team...likes the team on paper -Thinks Denver, Minn, SA, PHX looks good -Seems to be a theme today that 10-12 teams seem to be playoff caliber teams -On being the 6th man...seems good at being at any role with this team -Had a good offseason -Seems somewhat excited to go to China...not excited about the travel but seems happy to go
T-Mac -In an Apt and house will be ready in November(Must be a nice APT) -House in Florida damaged and fixing it now -Excited to be in Houston and likes everyone walking around with a smile -Knows he is the linchpin of this team but knows it will take more than him -With Shaq in the east it will open up a lot in the West -No worries at PG, this Lue can be the back-up and Ward will start. Ward good shooter and floor general -Loved Yao even before he was a Rocket. Shaq told T-Mac said Yao was gettin better -Extention will get done before the season starts, wants to get it done but will let the agent and owner handle that. -New Shoe in November with new technology, no shoestrings. Idea from ski boots. Has a lever that tightens the shoe. -Tracy said he told Yao to take him to the hotspots and where he grew up. Says Yao is really funny and JVG and him are tite.
Thanks for all the updates for all the out-of-towners. Hopefully, Rockets.com will have videos up ASAP. Looks like everyone is looking forward to the season, and that everyone is ready to jump on board.
A pretty interesting fact Mcgrady brought up when talking about JVG. He said in his previous 7 years in the league, every one of his coaches were first year coaches at some point while they were his coach, and he was looking foward to playing for an experienced coach like JVG who has been around awhile.
Was I the only one who got the feeling JVG just really doesn't like the way Orlando treated McGrady? Twice now I've heard him say that Tracy got really ripped by the Orlando organization. Even once he said that the criticism seemed unreasonable.
