SO! Did anyone else catch it tonight?! I am so impressed... but I'm also a big fan of anime/japanese stuff in general, which definetly helps in the appreciation overall... Quote from roomate who doesn't watch anime: "What's with all the overly unrealistic splurts of gushing blood?" (You'll know what he means if/when you see it). It definetly helps being a fan inorder to understand some of that stuff... I felt like the movie was made for ME! My only disappointment? Having to wait for the rest...
*****************spoiler (sort of )****************** I for got that it had a sequel and was thinking, "man, already 90 minutes in and she still has 3 people to hunt down and kill" Like most Tarantino movies, I left the theatre in a state of shock and awe. It is only now than I can go back and realize what a kickass flick it was. ( I saw the matinee at lunch time) The biggest shock of the whole film was Uma's toes.
) I hear that... remind me to never see movies in Dobie Theater anymore... 8 dollars a ticket... Arg... (though in this case it was totally worth it )
Yes, saw it tonight. Very entertaining. Thanks for the explanation on the anime connection. I couldn't figure out what the girl I was with(anime buff) kept laughing about during the fight scenes and didn't want to look stupid asking. Favorite line: My name's Buck, and I'm here to ****.
Go to Regal Cinemas in Westgate, if you can next time... They're the only(?) theatre that has a student discount. I think....
This thing's getting praise left and right....and I haven't seen it yet. I heard it was extra violent, even moreso than your average Tarantino movie. Is this true?
I always go into one his movies wondering how many MFers and N-words will be dropped I'll see it . .but i'm not a fan of his Rocket River
Somebody tell me that those werent her real toes. Please. About the flick, that was solid. I cant wait for the next one to come around.
There was no n-words in this one. Not much cursing either, but it was replaced with all out gore. GoGo was awesome, I wish she lasted longer. I hope more people here will watch it.
Quite so... I'd say it could be exemplified pretty well in this way... In Pulp Fiction, Travolta is waving a gun at the guy's face and it accidently goes off, but all you get out of that is the sound of the gun shot and the blood across the rear windsheild. Implied Violence if you will... Same scene, done in Kill Bill: You would see the bullet enter the man's head and see the brain and bits of skull fly out from behind his head, leaving you with a shot of the guy's lifeless (perhaps twitching) face with a massive hole in it.
Kill Bill: Without a doubt, the worst movie I've ever seen in my entire life. Does Tarentino have a point with anything he does besides perpetuate the myth that he has talent for directing movies? Let's make a running tally: Writing: Silly, unprofessional, self indulgent. Action: Pathetic, poor, ludicrous, excessively violent and gory. Plot: Wow. Revenge? What a novel concept! Who would have thought of that! Acting: None. Directing: Tarentino throws in some black and white, some blue filter, some quick cuts and edits, while doing nothing innovative at all. Oh, and he rips off Anime, very poorly. Well done Quentin, thank you for confirming your lack of talent. Once again QT makes something that tries to shock you and gore you into thinking that there is a method to his madness. But don't be fooled, there isn't. He belongs in a mental institution, because he is the sickest **** of all time. It's a shame that most people, including critics, are duped by his antics. Tarentino sucks, don't see Kill Bill. Worst. Movie. Ever.
Well, it's not that bad.... I've never seen so many people leave a theater during a movie in my life.
I think this is just a case of you just not liking a movie, which is fine, but for you to say Tarentino is talentless is preposterous. From what you've said, it seems as if you went into the movie with a predetermined opinion, instead of just trying to enjoy the film for what it is, a glorified kung fu movie.
