I just read a review, and I have to say that I trust this guy even though he didn't like Eternal Sunshine. http://www.geocities.com/stjamespl.geo/br04/brkillbill2.html Yes yes, his host is geocities. Whatever. QT fanboys - Worried?
I didn't like Kill Bill Volume 1. I've seen most of the HK flicks to which he pays homage so it just seems like a rehash of those action scenes.
Whoa, that guy has some serious dislike of the "nerd" types who he sees as being the target audience for the Kill Bill movies. I'll probably see this movie, but I won't expect anywhere near as much as I did from the first one. I didn't enjoy the first one as much as I'd hoped. Just didn't have the same snap as Tarantino's other films.
That guy seems to be doing everything he can to make a name for himself. Gotta scream the loudest to get noticed I guess. Anyway, I liked Kill Bill Vol 1 alot, and can't wait for the sequel. I would hardly call myself a QT fanboy, especially considering I havent even seen all of his movies
Um...its geocities. If my dog knew how to type, he could post a review on geocities. Two, the first words of the review: "Vol. 1 of "Kill Bill" made my "10 Worst of 2003" list, because it was so remarkably mean-spirited, stupid, pointless and generally vile. " We already know most people disagree with that. So...why would QT fans be worried again? EDIT: Looking around, I have to say that link is pretty pathetic on the whole.
remember Nirvana - Mozart? well Nomar's movie taste - septic tank. wait... the first analogy made no sense Nomar - Cheeseburger
also, from a source that I DEEPLY respect, here's a reviewer that liked Charlies Angels Full Throttle! and Kill Bill Vol. 1 too! http://www.geocities.com/mbecause789/Reviews.html see? i was right about those movies. don't bother arguing because i will end up p3645ning you.
Nomar, check out the rest of his site. It's painfully obvious that he's trying to write outspoken reviews in the hope that some famous Hollywood person will happen on his site and discover him. Then, in his fantasy world, they would buy one of his screenplays and he would be famous, just like Quentin Tarantino. Well, except that this guy writes at an tenth-grade level, which is perfect for his current career of writing Penthouse Letters. I mean who the hell brags about being published some 300 times in p*rn magazines? I didn't expect to like Kill Bill 1, but I'm certainly not going to worry about Kill Bill 2 based on the review of an idiot who claimed to hate the first one (but had to go see the second anyway?).
I just watched Ebert & Roeper last night and they both gave Kill Bill Volume 2 two enthusiastic thumbs up. They said that this film put a lot of things in perspective from the first and made the first film overall more enjoyable (they gave KB I two thumbs up also). Mentioned that after KB II gets released on video how they would like to watch KB I & KB II in order to take it all in.
How can one take a "reviewer" (using it loosely here) serious when he refers to one of the key elements of the movie as "chop-sockey"? It's pretty clear he already made up his mind about the movie & QT before he reviewed it I like most of QT's movies, but was a bit disappointed with KBv1. I will probably still see v2 though.
Of course it's going to be good! Did you SEE the first one? I mean cmon it's not like this is the Matrix we're talkin about! The knife fight scene was brilliant. So random.
part 1 was decent . .. finally a QT movie where i don't hear the n-word over a 100 times Rocket River
I also loved the first one. Kill Bill is all about ultra slick images and awesome music. As long as you don't go into it expecting any more than this, it shouldn't be a disappointment. The "pose-down" between Uma and Liu while an instrumental version of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" blares in the background is one of the coolest scenes ever.
Make sure you just rent it, they are putting out a crappy version here while europe and japan get director's cuts. Hopefully after the 2nd one, they'll put out a special edition for US fans.
