I read that article, too. Wishful thinking, given the BYC status of both contracts (we have our trade exception, they don't have one), but I would do Francis + Eggie for Kidd in a heartbeat. In a heartbeat.

After reading that article, I think some in the Nets organization would, too, given Steve's youth, explosiveness, and most important, smaller contract (the Nets are maxed out). Again, too bad about the BYC thing.

If that happens the Rockets would be crazy not to get in on that action.

I like Kenyon Martin a lot more than most people here. He's a player, even though he was kind a dick to Alonzo.

Yes, we could use someone like him. I can't believe people are still talking about that. Players say some stupid stuff sometimes, but it doesn't always have to mentioned when talking about him.

Who'd trade Yao for Kidd and Kenyon?

All im worried about is Kmart wants the MAX next year when his contract expiers and i dont think hes worth that much at all, although i did start a trade which involved him once ;)

Don't get us near "gimme a max contract" Martin. Seriously! Kidd, of course, would be the best thing to ever happen to Yao -- I mean, our team. Imagine him feeding Francis on a *real* fast break.

Jason Kidd is really awesome, if we could ever get him I'd trade whatever is necessary.

How can you do that? Yao makes chump change compared to Kidd and Martin. Plus I don't think the Nets are that desperate, you'd have to throw in some other players before they'll move 2 all stars for one.

Apparently the Blazers are sweating Martin...and they still have the pieces to make such a deal work I imagine (from Aldridge, ESPN.com)

"Keep it in the back of your head: Blazers GM John Nash is so enamored of Kenyon Martin, who was drafted on Nash's watch in New Jersey, that Nash, who breeds thoroughbreds, named one of his horses after him. "

I'm a Kidd fan, but his influence on the Rox would be much less than it is in NJ. The Rockets don't have nearly the fast break finishers the Nets do. Kittles, Jefferson, Harris and Martin are very strong on the break and Scalabrine and Collins are very good on the secondary break. Contrast this with JJax, Pike, Nachbar, Taylor, Cato and Yao finishing a break.

Plus, although Kidd is a better post entry passer than any current Rocket, his shooting range is a little suspect allowing teams to pack it in around Yao. The Rox would have to move Yao to a high post to negate the effect.

IMHO, just adding Kidd would not make the Rox a Top 4 WC team. They would need other components (personnel) to make it really work. Unless Kidd is good enough to turn Boki into RJ! :)

As much as I would like to see Francis gone, this deal makes little to no sense. Kidd's huge contract is a difficult pill to swallow, and there is no guarantee that he would lead this team to where it wants to go. (as it would take more than Jason Kidd to make this team elite, and with that contract there would be less money to spend elsewhere) Secondly, Kidd is an inconsistant shooter. But unlike Francis, atleast Kidd helps out the team when he is off. And lastly, Kidd is only average in running the half court offense. Because we have Yao, I think we need a point guard that has the versatility to run both types of offense. (i.e. Nash or Brent Barry)

We'll hold the line together. (DRAMA) This is for sure, the fight will be tough (think Alamo, less 100 of the male freedom fighters), but we will fight to the death. I'm with you PSJ.

I would consider Cat (we add a little more) or Steve (NJ adds a little more) to land K-Mart. He would bring a lot of good things to the Rockets.

I'm telling you guys that Martin is one of those guys you would love to have on your team like Barkley was.

He would definitely give us some toughness - too bad, that it looks like we will never have a chance to get him.

    Gawd, you guys.

Sure, we need a K-Mart. Absolutely. And yet no one mentions how in that article both Kidd and the organization wish, deep down, to part ways.

Of course when a team's losing, that's how it goes. But the team is up for sale and things don't seem to be improving for the Nets soon. Plus that bloated-ass payroll.

I wish the Nets had a trade exception, as we do. Steve + Eggie (exp contract) for Jason Kidd? Sign me up.

Kidd blows. Rather have Steve. Hate them both. Rather have Hienrich or Crawford than old bag Kidd. Or Maggette or Parker, and on and on. Kidd is terrible. Step slower, and cant shoot to beat zones. Without Martin or Jefferson Kidd would lead that team to the lottery like Steve. Kidd is overrated.
