I am in this H-E-B a couple times a month and I used to make morning deliveries to this same location everyday for years up until about a year ago.

I can't even imagine how I'd react if I witnessed a bank robbery in progress.

Probably best to drop to the floor and play dead, unless you are far enough away to hide and call the police.

Good lord... I think my mother shops there sometimes, as all the good grocery stores near Hobby Airport, where The Family Abode exists in its splendor, have closed for various reasons. Hell, they even closed the Luby's cafeteria!

    Yeah, my parents too.

Crazy I was in Pasadena a few weeks ago and got stuck in some bs traffic because of the bank robbery at Chase. Now this happens, just about a mile or two down Fairmont.

A bank job inside a grocery store at 9:30 in the morning? That's pretty hardcore.

Apparently there were 2 other bank robberies that occured this morning. Seems too odd to be a coincidence.

    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7138835.html

Authorities are investigating two bank robberies that happened about an hour apart in Harris County this morning.
Officials said they are uncertain if the heists are connected.
The first robbery happened at the First Community Credit Union in the 13200 block of Tidwell in east Harris County about 9:10 a.m., according to the Harris County Sheriff's office.
Officials said the second heist happened about 16 miles north of there at the IBC bank in an Atascocita H-E-B at West Lake Houston Parkway and East F.M. 1960 about 10:15 a.m.
In each case, a single man walked into the bank, stole money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No shots were fired during the robberies and no injuries were reported.
No other information was immediately available.

A couple months ago there was a bank robbery at the Bank Of America on 59/grand pkwy... There was even a car chase shootout where the guy unloaded a machine gun from the back of his van spraying bullets all over the place...

Economy tanking is not really an excuse to go stealing other people's money and especially no excuse to start waving pistols and firing wildly in public. Not saying they aren't related, I'm just saying there's more to it than that.

HEB is good though, i agree.

Yeah, cuz, like, if the economy was better, these bank robbers would likely have good stable jobs and be upstanding citizens. Yup. And not be robbin.

You don't mean to be, but you are correct.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/10/nyregion/10crime.html

    Excerpt:

“Every recession since the late ’50s has been associated with an increase in crime and, in particular, property crime and robbery, which would be most responsive to changes in economic conditions,” said Richard Rosenfeld, a sociologist at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Typically, he said, “there is a year lag between the economic change and crime rates.”
