i figured i'd start a new one because some fans weren't seeing updates on the other threads and to give y'all a heads up. On KHOU ch 11, at 5pm (in about 30mins) there suppose to have sketches of the suspects and there could be more info given. They mentioned something was found inside their vehicle which was unusual. I'll try and post the sketches here, or anyone who wants to can, when they're released.
The left dude looks like Tony Parker and the right dude looks like Michael Finley... Hmm... What's with the Spurs?
unfortunately these sketches probably won't help as much as i thought they would, they're as general as you can get. I know several people who could fit either of these...
Police release sketches of suspects in Carl Landry shooting HOUSTON -- Houston police released composite sketches Thursday of two men wanted in connection with the shooting of Houston Rockets forward Carl Landry. Police say they found evidence in the suspects' vehicle linking them to an earlier robbery and assault. They stole a man's wallet at gunpoint early Tuesday, then assaulted him in the 4400 block of Telephone Road, according to police. Minutes later, the same suspects allegedly shot Landry after crashing into his SUV. He talked about the scary ordeal after Wednesday's practice. "First and foremost, I want to thank God, my friends, my family," Landry said. Everybody, ya know, had wishes and were concerned about me. Thanks." Landry said he went out with a female friend to get something to eat early Tuesday when an oncoming vehicle suddenly hit his SUV. "I was sideswiped once. They turn around and hit me again on the other side and I ran into a big street light," Landry said. "The car was totaled at the time and I knew something was going on -- like they were looking for somebody. Both of the guys got out of the car. I tried to plead my case, saying that "I'm not the guy they were looking for, or whatever." But immediately they started shooting. Two shots were fired. The second one hit me in the left calf." Landry said he ran six blocks with his leg bleeding and he was scared to death as he knocked on neighbors doors, then hid in the bushes as he waited for help. Landry was taken to a Houston hospital where he was treated for a bullet wound and dislocated finger. If you recognize either suspect, call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. "I am so glad he's fine," Yao Ming said Wednesday. Landry's female companion, who ran in the opposite direction, wasn't hurt. Landry's mother attended Wednesday's practice. "I'm blessed. It's a blessing because it could have been a total opposite," said Landry's mother, Anita. "I could've came from his New Orleans game to come see them pull a sheet from over his head to show me that that's my child. I'm grateful that he's alive." http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/khou090319_mh_carl_landry_suspects.4fa7355c.html
it seems to me like they pretty much immediately went after Landry, that would explain why the woman wasn't injured and why she ran the other way. They took off after him and she got out and took off the other way.
It probably happens all the time that people screw up times, particularly in the middle of the night and during a very long and stressful ordeal, but the Chronicle story that was just posted says that the evidence found in the Civic connected these guys to a different robbery that happened at about 3:45 a.m. Which means that the initial reports were probably right that Landry got jumped around 4:20 a.m., not 2:30 a.m. as subsequent reports have claimed. Not that this matters and not that it means Landry is lying, it just compromises the criminal case, although probably not by a whole lot, if they ever catch these guys. Sometime else I couldn't quite figure out is how a Honda Civic can ram an SUV into a lightpole. I've gotten in accidents with smaller cars while driving an SUV and the other cars usually take all the damage. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6321690.html
I dont think it affects the case itself, i think it was the media mixing up the times and not so much the police. I think an officer who spoke on behalf of the PD did mess up, but again i think it was miscommunication rather than they not having the right info. In court they'll have times directly from the victims and 911 calls. I guess it depends on the kind of SUV he had and the speed involved. The civic probably took a lot of damage itself if they left it there.
No disrespect to Carl but he comes off like the type of guy that doesn't handle really stressful situations well. It was probably more his driving than the weight of the other car that made him hit the telephone pole.
So, they found the car. That means they should have some leads, unless the car was stolen. Hopefully they get these criminals off the streets.
he got hit twice by the car. first time, then the car went after and hit him again, then hit the pole.
The airbag came out (which also caused him to dislocate his finger). That probably was the main reason for it.
i'm thinking it was stolen, even if they were dumb, i dont think they'd wreck their own vehicle that was registered to them. I've been thinking though, what are the chances that they were just drunk and maybe didn't even mean to hit landry, then hit him and decided to take it out on him? Drunks can even see when things are their fault sometimes.
