http://www.startribune.com/511/story/301033.html This ought to get some message boards talking about where KG will be next season.
Tell him to get his ass on the low block and lead the team, he is a great player, that does not have a signature move. He is probably the greatest complimentary player to ever play in the league, but he is NOT the go to guy. He is just not the guy at the end of a game that will lead the team. DD
No they don't: 7 first round exits as the main guy. 1 Conference Final as the 2nd guy behind Sam 2 (most likely) straight lottery campaigns as the main guy again.
I think Robinson was better, he was more defined than KG... Garnett does a lot of things very well, and that may be his biggest issue. He reminds me of Ralph Sampson, a great talent, but not someone that would ever lead the team to the promised land. You can shut KG down, he does not have that "I am gonna get mine anyway"...attitude. I like him a lot, but he, more than others like him, needs someone to take the focus off of him. DD
Yet somehow he does, every single night. While the results don't say he can lead a team, the numbers tell that he gets his.
Owned! KG is not a Go-to guy because.... 1) He does not have a go to move, a signature move, a shot he can rely on in close games. 2) He defers too much to his teammates at the end of games. He needs to take some tough shots even if he is double teamed. 3) He lacks the killer instict. As already said, he is probably one of the best complimentary players to ever play in the NBA. If he is paired with Yao and Tmac, they would win the next 5-10 championships. KG covers all off Rockets weaknes...... Reliable jump shot off of double teams of yao and Tmac. Check. Perfect player to feed post entry pass to Yao because of his handle and size. Check. Rebounding to help Yao. Check. Help defender to cover quicker post player and relieve Yao. Check. Help defender for everyone else with blocked shots. Check. He covers all of Yao's weakness and can be the perfect bridge between Yao and Tmac. Cmon KG. You have made enough money. Take a paycut and sign with Rockets if you want championship. Just dont be a chump like Karla and sign with Spurs for a free ride. Earn the ring!!
Sam's 2003-04 campaign was as good as I've ever seen a point guard play. Ever. Not saying it was better then Magic in the mid-80s, Stockton in the late 80s, Nash last year, or Rodrick Rhodes' turn as point forward in 1997-98 -- but it holds up to all of them. I still believe that the Timberwolves would have destroyed the Pistons had Cassell not been injured. Spurs, maybe. Lakers, definitely. That Spurs team was not ready. That said, I still think KG is criminally unappreciated. Nobody in the NBA guards five guys like he does, and he RAN Flip's offense for years. Brandon may have brought the ball up, but it was KG's to run (while Brandon nailed the 19-footers) after that. And, I'm sorry, but KG doesn't have the strength to dominate the low block. Can't do it. I won't blame him for his frame, because he's worked at it, and dominated by doing all the little things. Not everyone can build like Malone, or develop an ass like Shaq's. Ask Shaq. He loves his own ass. Big fan of it.
Although he's not Mr. Clutch, he's far from a complimentary player. He's a superstar and is regularly an MVP candidate. Regarding not having a go to move. How many guys in the league have one better than KG's? KG's go to move is his fadeaway which is pretty good.
you have 15 seconds and are down. would you go to KG? or could you name me 10-15 players who you'd go to instead?
I believe Garnett is very unappreciated these days as well. He's definitely a superstar. Nonetheless, he's still one of those players that's just great at everything. He doesn't really excel at any one facet of the game (besides maybe rebounding). His ability to score is a bit overrated. People see over 20 points a game and automatically assume he's a great scorer. Garnett's game relies a great deal on fadeaways...frequently more than 15 feet out. Come playoff time, when defenses key in on him, his shooting percentage drops drastically. In fact, I'd take Yao's offensive play over Garnett's any day.
KG is a great player, the guy is just a supreme talent. I think his attitude is similar to Yao's in that he doesn't mind, or even would prefer, to share the spotlight with someone. You guys can rip on him all you want but if you paired him with Kobe, Lebron, or T-Mac, they would make a great duo. KG just has the unfortunate luck of being stuck in a crappy franchise and I commend him for taking it all in stride for so long. Minnesota needs to **** or get off the pot (put some talent around him or trade him).
Come on, no one is ripping on him, I think he is a great player. But he seems to have big issues in the "leading the team to victories" category. KG is a SF in a PF-lite's body. If he were more of a center, and he could be, he would dominate more often. He rebounds, he scores, he passes, he is a great player, just not one that leads the franchise. DD
In the final play of a game, who do you feel most confident in dumping the ball to: 1. Garnett 2. Duncan 3. Kobe 4. Iverson 5. Rip Hamilton 6. Dwayne Wade 7. Elton Brand Call me crazy, but I'd like my chances feeding Pau in the post for a final score more than KG. That said, I think he's a freak of nature, a HOF lock, and would make almost any team instant contender. Problem is, he's not a primary scoring option. He needs a McGrady or Pierce to go anywhere. Evan
KG is this generations Pippen, a great player who is good at everything, but not dominate at one thing. DD
