So now Alan Keyes is speaking for Jesus in an attempt to get a few extra votes? What type of BS non-sequitor comment is that in a political race? It's these types of ridiculous statements that separate the fiscal conservatives from the radical right.

    Keyes speaks for Jesus

Obama Says Voters, God Should Judge Him

Wed Sep 8, 6:36 PM ET Add Politics - AP to My Yahoo!

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Democrat Barack Obama, responding to Republican Alan Keyes (news - web sites)' claim that Jesus would not vote for Obama in the U.S. Senate race, said Wednesday he will let God judge whether he is a good Christian and Illinois voters judge whether he would make a good senator.

"I don't concern myself too much with Mr. Keyes' judgment on either matter," Obama said.

Keyes has said Obama's support of abortion rights means Jesus could not vote for him. He singled out Obama's opposition to a state Senate bill that supporters said would have protected any fetuses that survived an attempted abortion; critics said the bill was a political stunt that could have restricted access to all abortions.

"Christ would not vote for Barack Obama because Barack Obama has voted to behave in a way that it is inconceivable for Christ to have behaved," said Keyes, who opposes abortion even when the pregnancy is a result of rape or incest.

During a campaign stop, Obama said he does not question Keyes' religious beliefs and Keyes should give him the same consideration.

"I will leave Mr. Keyes to the theological speculations. My job is to focus on the issues that voters care about — jobs, health care, education," Obama said. He added, "I'm not running to be the minister of Illinois. I'm running to be its United States senator."

He said until a fetus can survive on its own, the issue of abortion is an ethical and religious choice that should be made by the mother.

that keyes guy was so annoying when he had that show on MSNBC.....he was worse than the o'reilly dude w/ intimidating, disrespecting, and cutting off his guests.....he used to throw tantrums in the middle of discussion, squealing "it's my show and i get to speak now"....and back to the topic at hand....The Lord votes?

Have you ever seen a truck run over a grub worm? That's what's going to happen to anyone opposing Obama, including the clinically insane.

Didn't Keyes call Cheney's daughter a sinner for being a lesbian recently? I gotta imagine there are many Republicans out there going "what the heck were we thinking when we got this guy?"

At least he's keeping things entertaining.

He's right. Jesus wouldn't vote for Barack Obama...

because he's not registered in Illinois.

True. His omnipotency would be difficult to fill out the address piece on a voter registration form.

I think you mean "omnipresence" not "all powerful (omnipotent).

But hey, I'm not omniscient, so how do I know. ;)

Actually, he was found blameless by the government (Pilate), and killed by popular demand. ;)

Umm.... except for when he couldn't even beat a former Black Panther in the Democratic primary in 2000. Oops.

That might not be a problem in Illinois where there's a history of people rising from the dead to vote.

OK Bamaslammer. Keyes' position on homosexuality is nuanced.
