Yao Ming can be milked for the first 3 qtrs of games,, he can get our 3 pt shooters open shots in the beginning, but if we want to close out games against quality teams, AB or Kyle Lowry should be our closers. Not Ron, because he is too wacky with his decision making, not Yao, but the pg duo. Tracy never had the balls to be that guy for us at the end of games !!

Got to hand to Cesaer what is his (or something like that). As much as I hate Tracy right now, you can't say stuff like that...

It's kinda funny to see ppl reach conclusions after one crazy shooting game.
AB was shooting 55%Fg, 57%3pts, and 100% Ft with only 3 assists the whole game. And it could've been anybody's game at the end. If you expect AB to play in this style on consistent basis. Kiss goodbye to our first round. Mark my words.

Everyone points to the 13 in 35 but do we forget the game 2 GW against Dallas in the play-offs??

As to the topic at hand, too limited a sample size to draw any conclusions, also consider it was the Phoenix Suns. Not with a need to find alternatives to Yao, but that it must be Brooks/Lowry.

never had the balls to be the guy for us at the end of games? ARE F*$*ing r****dED? he scored 13 points in 35 seconds to win us a game, he hit a buzzer beater in the playoffs to win us the game, we havent put ourselves in position to have game winners very often, but i know countless times mcgrady down the stretch was our guy, and he wanted to be that guy, this is just proof of the idiots that are posting here now, take nothing and try and twist it around to slam tmac, WE GET THE GOD DAMN POINT, you don't like him, he's lazy, he hates basketball, he doesn't want to win, blah blah blah

Unfortunately, we're only talking about the 2004-05 version of T-Mac. It's important to recognize that since the 2005-06 season, he hasn't been the same player that he was prior to that season.

This is hilarious. Folks ripped T-Mac apart for doing exactly what Artest and Brooks were doing in these situations, which is hold the ball and go one-on-one/iso against your man. That is how you win close games. You give the ball to your best player and let him create.

Well, he did set up both Shane Battier and Novak for game winning shots last year. Oh yeah, but he was being selfish right? He should have made that "hockey pass" before he let those two have the game winner.

Tracy always wanted to be the one closing, or at least assist the person closing. Maybe not this season, but this season was completly different for him.

Ron does make some bad decisions, but you cant blame the guy for taking the last shots when he's scoring well the whole game. In fact, if he is shooting well in a particular game, you would be crazy to NOT let him take the last shot.

Yao does get winded towards the end of the games, but he is our star player, you still have to get him the ball and see what he can do with it. If he cant get open, or gets doubled, he needs to kick it back out.

But I will agree with you on AB/Lowry trying to close, as long as they have been shooting well. With AB, it seems that either he is on fire (which then let him shoot it), or he is ice cold. If he's cold, he doesn't need to be in at all.

Put it this way, the more options we have in crunch time, the better our chances of winning the game. Yao will get fronted, hammered and flopped on in crunch time so if he is taken out by the "illegal defense," we need guys who can make plays and shots to neutralize it. Once we have consistent 4th quarter execution, it will be pick your poison for the other team.

That part, I'll agree with, although if neither one of those guys hit their respective game winning shots, then there would be harsh criticism directed at T-Mac for not taking the shots himself. I was only talking about how he hasn't made the game winning shots himself over the past few seasons, let alone not having the kind of explosiveness he had prior to the 2005-06 season.

Exactly, its a lose/lose situation for T-Mac. If he passes up the final shot, hes a puss. If he takes the last shot, hes a selfish ball hog that just wants all the glory. Anyways, these aren't game winning shots, but I did find clutch plays by T-Mac from last year on Youtube:

    Vs Bobcats

Don't ya know, Angkor, those dont count since they came against scrub teams.

After all, its not really a basketball game if the other team has a bad record.

I don't mind Artest being the guy down the stretch. Yes he does take a lot of dumb shots throughout the game but he makes a lot of them down the stretch. I also think it is important to give it to a guy that wants the ball in crunch time and that guy is Ron, however Brooks fits that build as well.

Kyle Lowry is useless if he is forced to shoot 3's. AB is useless if the PG is bigger than him. They cannot be our closers.

Ron Artest and Yao are our closers.
