    A Sort of Homecoming

    HOUSTON - Home.

It’s a word capable of eliciting intense emotion, while simultaneously meaning so many different things to so many different people.

It can be something as simple as the house in which you live, the city that suits you best or the powerful emotion experienced inside a loved one’s arms.

The common denominator, of course, being that the word home, in its purest sense, conjures feelings of comfort, contentment and warmth.

Perhaps that’s why Kevin Martin has rarely stopped smiling since putting on a Rockets’ uniform last February. After surviving several challenging years in Sacramento – seasons full of transition and trying times – he’s now found himself in a familiar system, surrounded by talented, like-minded teammates who complement each other on and off the floor; players who share the same basketball goals, dreams and aspirations; guys who hang out and get along with one another off the court as well. In other words, the Zanesville, Ohio native has found a sense of home in Houston.

“Yeah, it feels good now,” says Martin. “Last year, coming into a new team, I knew there were going to be eyes on me: people wanted to see if I was going to come in here and jack up every shot or if I was going to act like I was the man.

“But the one thing I wanted to do was get back to trusting the teammates around me and not going out there forcing the issue every night and scoring points for no reason. I respect every guy on this team and it’s much more about a team game than any individual. I love it. I feel like it’s a perfect fit.”...

Glad we have him. It's nice to have players who can both produce on the court, and are kind down to earth people. Literally all of Kevin's interviews up to this point have been great.

He wore a Rockets uni... Happens to the best of em and it's been happening here for a long time here.. Tis why we have a damn deep bench... Morey knows the curse of the Rockets is the Medical Center (The Largest Medical Center in the WORLD - it's like the Mafia) ...

He better have worked his ass off on defense, thats all I ask of him.

At least Brooks has an excuse because of his size and lack of strength.

Martin should have no excuse, even Morey pointed him out on that.

So looking forward to the coming basketball season. We have a team to be proud of.

And as you guys know, it was Daryl "The God" Morey that put this team together ;)

Thanks for posting, can't wait till at least pre-season

Martin must be pumped for this season, can't wait to see him play with Yao even if it's 24 mins. Good backcourt chemistry between him and AB.

But I'm glad Ish Smith his making the best of his opportunity and has a good attitude. Cool how coach is acknowledging his hard work and saying how good he has been doing hope he keeps it up.

Now this is the time Jermaine needs to impress coach adleman so he can be one of the active 12 or at least make the final 15 (hope I didn't jinx him) *knock on wood*

    Lets start the season already!!!

    I can't wait!

To be honest, if we do move some players around via trade, I don't want it to happen until decemeber or january because I really want to see the guys that we have right now play together. Our chemistry is going to off the charts and that, in itself, combined with the return of the Great Wall, will make for some good ol' team basketball (the purest form, in my opinion).

    GO ROCKETS!!!

P.S. Does anyone know if they're going to show the pre-season games on tv? like on FSN or something...

Miller and Chuck Hayes are terrefic high post passers and KM is terrefic at using the lanes off the ball. Expect Martin to score a ton of points via backdoor cuts. I love this guy because i think he can really score at an effecient rate and get to the line at nonchelent ease. .

it's early preseason, anything even remotely close to an injury will be rested while you do other work.

If he stays healthy all year, he flourish in this system and make his team mates better for it.
