Jason Terry and Tyrus Thomas are above him on this. /Thread...jkjk

I am a big fan of Martin but not one of Adelmans alter ego of not going to him when time is running out. Instead they hand the ball to Lowry or Brooks (Neither of whom are on the radar of the top of this list) only to throw up some garbage with perennial bricks.

Despite the FG%, FTs etc, he is the only one who got -2x points in the +/- column among the leading pack. So... he does not help in clutch time?

Clutch is the last few minutes of the game.

"The only thing that matters is the last 5 minutes of the game."

How can he be clutch from the bench? I don't see this stat in games. Perhaps his percentages are high but I would like to see his number of attempts vs say durant, melo, Kobe, etc. Seems to me Martin is a proficient but reluctant scorer in the clutch.

    Agreed.

Also look a bit closer and check out Martin's other 'clutch' stats:
    +/- per 48min -24; 0.9 Reb per 48min; 0 Ast per 48min; 2.8 To per 48min (despite not handling the ball).

    Just horrible.

With those crazy stats, why would any Houston Fan want to trade his ass??? Defense we might say? Well as a team, Rockets are just as bad as Kevin Martin's Defense, so to say trade Kmart due to his defense, might as well trade the whole team except for Chuck Hayes.

Clutch is in a game that we are losing or within 3 points......I would be interested to see if those are just how much he scores late etc...

Even in games we are ahead or getting fouled and sent to the line.

What is the definition they are using for Clutch?

I think Martin's problem is more lack of toughness in his natural game than lack of confidence down the stretch. He has shown he can make key shots, at least the same kind of shots he makes during the game. But when defenses are tougher, and normally that's in the last minutes, he tends to turn it over more often, refs tend to let play more.

He maintains his confidence in the clutch, is just that his game/body is too softie to maintain the high efficency against elite defenses. He would be an absolute all-star (and a better defender) without those weaknesses.

If it's not a close game, it's not clutch in the last 5 or whatever minutes.

Let's not get carried away here. I hate how people go into the extremes with their perceptions.

This stat tells you that contrary to what a lot of people believed, Martin is not a choker.

The problem is that he can be clutch and all but still he is not a closer, he is not our go to guy when the going gets tough. We should live or die with Brooks, is there any doubt after the Boston and ATL games?

The stat doesn't tell me anything.....I need to see the criteria in which the stat is gathered.

This is what bugs me, so many people here live and die by stats, when they are some of the most manipulated bunch of numbers ever....and not reliable at all as a way of solving an argument.

The stat's are the end all people are out of hand...and out of touch.
