Check out the stat line for KG for his first game. That is unbelievable. Can you have a more perfect game? http://www.nba.com/playerfile/kevin_garnett/index.html That's a +42.00 Efficiancy rating !!! I know it's only one game, but that is incredible. This season will be great to follow simply because of KG and the Celtics. It's finally time to witness what KG is capable of when playing with two other all-stars. BTW, Sam Cassell and Sprewell were no where close to Pierce and Allen...
There's an article on 82games on adjusted +/- ratings. It's a noisy stat, but I think it reflects how good Kevin Garnett was last year. http://82games.com/ilardi1.htm Based on the results of all the 5-on-5 "mini-games" (to use Morey's terminology) last season, statistically Garnett was most likely the best player in the league (followed by LeBron and Duncan). And that, even though the Wolves were terrible. Garnett has been a top-5 player, if not the best, over the last 5 years. It's a shame that so many people stopped recognizing it as his teammates got worse and worse.
I watched the game last night, he was fantastic, did everything on the court, scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, blocks, man such a high energy guy, gotta love it. + he's such a great leader for the Celtics ! Kevin Garnett will always be one of my favourite players, all the best in Beantown KG ! Boston is definatly my favourite team in the East, the "Big Three" makes this team such a good team to watch, and I love the 3 players.
Sure, he's a great player but he's also one of the biggest losers in sports. Time to prove himself out in Beantown since he'll be out of excuses this time around!
Do you throw Yao and TMac in that category as well? Garnett has never had a teammate on the level of either of those guys.
He was all over Haywood's ass last night. I was waiting for Haywood to "Rudy T" KG in the back of the head. And of course Bavetta doesn't call anything on KG, heaven forbid... KG is putting up triple doubles in the preseason? Were talking about the preseason? Sit your ass down. Take a page out of Brady's book and win with style, composure, grace, and sexiness. -I kid-
its unfortunate that there will always have the be the charles barkleys, karl malone's, patrick ewings in this league, great players with teams who were always on the brink of greatness
Am I the only one who thought the patheticness of the Wizards overshadowed how good the Celtics were? I'm not saying Boston isn't a contender, but the Wizards played the worst game I've ever seen them play with Gilbert. I didn't watch hardly any of the 2nd half and very disappointed in the game. KG is my favorite for MVP. He's gonna rip the league up this season.

I think it does. League MVP's should unquestionably be held to a higher standard, IMO. He's been out of the first round once. Sorry, I just expect more from a player everybody acts like is holy and untouchable.
Come on. The only year he was playin with some talent on his team, the same year he won the MVP, was the year he went to the Conference Finals. He had to play 4 positions in that series including PG, only to lose to the star loaded Lakers of that year.
Nash is in the same boat. Granted, he's played in what 2-3 WC Finals series and been out the first round at least six times off of the top of my head. But yeah, I get your point. It's basically put up or shut up time for them both.

I only caught the last 4 minutes of the game but man KG is just the epitome of what a basketballer should be. He plays hard, is unselfish and has that will to win that only special players do. In the last 4 minutes he was only on the court for 1 of them but i saw him on the sidelines in the final 3 minutes. Celtics are up 20 but KG is up on the bench cheering his younger team mates and supporting them as if it was a game 7 playoff game. Thats why he is such a special player and a great guy.
KG is a monster.. too bad he's never gonna win it in the East. Not with the Texas triangle still in existence.
