Stats are very similar, same height, both have great athleticism, though I think Gay is even more so. Who do you guys think is better right now? I think durant by alittle bit.

Rudy Gay attacks the basket more. Durant still settles for alot of outside shots (making alot of them mind you).

I'd say about equal right now but I'd take Durant over Gay every day of the week.

And I couldn't vote because there is no option for "Equal".

Right now Rudy Gay is better but in the longterm, Durant will leave him behind.

I think Durant now is already better. But yeah, I'll go along with the consensus that Durant has much higher ceiling than Gay, though it's possible that Gay will develop into an All-star himself.

durant gets more attention being the number 2 pick and ROY
Gay is more explosive and has a post game, also he can dunk in traffic

durant is more of a shooter, shies from contact and usually goes for fastbreak dunks when its 2 on 1 or open basket.

Both guy are on bad teams, although durant controls about 80% of okc ball possessions while Gay not so much.

i would pick Gay tho just because of the aggressiveness and explosiveness.

And this is not a diss on Tmac so t-o-f hold your insults but Durant plays more like a post orlando tmac who usually settles for jumpers whether they are going in or not

What about adding Granger to the discussion?

Interesting point, though I think that Granger's athleticism and overall talent are slightly lower than Durant and Gay.

Gay is the most athletic but Id say Granger is the most overall better player of those three. Durant with the best shooting tough of course

WTH, Granger is a FAR FAR better than either Gay or Durant.

Hell, He is a much better player than Tracy at this point.....

I doubt that the results of this poll are going to be objective since there's a lot of Rudy Gay haters on this message board. They hate because of his success as a player and since the Rockets traded him away for a weaker version of James Posey, they have to try and justify it with a lot of...well...hate.

Just imagine if Rudy Gay wasn't as good as he is...The haters would be salivating at the mouth.

We could sure use a player like him on the roster now.

yeah i'd definitely rank granger above the two because he uses his length and athleticism to play a semblance of defense, although durant is coming along in this department.

Obviously Granger is much better than either guy. Give it time and KD will be better than him.

It's tough to say. Right now, Granger is probably the most polished, with Gay second and KD third. No question though, if I had to start a team I would go with KD. He seems to be going to the basket more and his ball handling need work (although better then last year). I expected him to be a much better rebounder then he has been , but playing SG moves him away from the basket. His ability to make tough shots and shooting touch are already very impressive. Once he learns how to handle the ball better and attack the rim, he will be dangerous.

    Granger >> Gay > Durant

The guy with the most natural talent/ability is Durant. Gay is the most physically and athletically gifted. And Granger is the more seasoned/polished all around player without a real weakness to his game.

To steal a page from tinman, Len Bias could've shut down T-Mac last night. I am not impressed by KD staying in front of a man with one leg.

I'm not sold on Durant. He gets to basically shoot - and miss - all he wants on OKC and shows flashes of ability but may be developing some bad habits. He sort of won ROY by default last year, I mean somebody has to score the points on an awful team. Gay's a lot more well-rounded at this point.

EDIT: I should amend this - for some reason I thought Gay had decent +/- stats this year and last but I just checked and they were slightly worse even than Durants. I guess my view is colored by his first game this year where he played pretty well against the Rox.
