CAMPAIGN DRAMA ROCKS DEMOCRATS: KERRY FIGHTS OFF MEDIA PROBE OF RECENT ALLEGED INFIDELITY, RIVALS PREDICT RUIN

A frantic behind-the-scenes drama is unfolding around Sen. John Kerry and his quest to lockup the Democratic nomination for president, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

Intrigue surrounds a woman who recently fled the country, reportedly at the prodding of Kerry, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

A serious investigation of the woman and the nature of her relationship with Sen. John Kerry has been underway at TIME magazine, ABC NEWS, the WASHINGTON POST and the ASSOCIATED PRESS, where the woman in question once worked.

    MORE

A close friend of the woman first approached a reporter late last year claiming fantastic stories -- stories that now threaten to turn the race for the presidency on its head!

In an off-the-record conversation with a dozen reporters earlier this week, General Wesley Clark plainly stated: "Kerry will implode over an intern issue." [Three reporters in attendance confirm Clark made the startling comments.]

The Kerry commotion is why Howard Dean has turned increasingly aggressive against Kerry in recent days, and is the key reason why Dean reversed his decision not to drop out of the race after Wisconsin, top campaign sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

This is starting to set up just like 1992.

Did John Forbes Kerry sign a pre-nup before marrying into the Heinz fortune? Oh wait, it doesn't matter, John Forbes Kerry was already very very wealthy.

This is getting very exciting! Keep the good news a-comin!!!!

Consider the source and the lack of facts. Yawn.

Sidney Blumenthal is a wife beater. I know this is true because Matt Drudge said so.

Yeah i don't know what to think of this. If it is true it could turn the entire election upside down. My only question is, if it is true, and Clark knew about it, why the hell did he drop out of the race now? I am not sure I believe this one . . .

Best case scenario: The facts don't come up *until* Kerry secures the nomination. Then you have the landslide of all landslides in the general.

Yeah, a similar issue once took down a Democratic president.

    Oh wait...

Yes, we all know how loose with the facts TIME, ABC News, The Washington Post, and AP are.

All Drudge does is post links to newspapers and news sites from around the world, with the occasional posting of stories before the print mags can get them out (as the case appears to be here as well as Clinton/Lewinsky).

Where's a link from any of these sources? Also, Drudge mainly posts links from other sources, but on occasion, he writes his own stuff, which this appears to be.

Of course those sources never reported this. Drudge did. TIME, ABC NEWS, etc. are reported to be 'investigating' this.

It really took down Clinton didn't it. People hate the Bushes so much, that this won't affect the general election at all. Just like it didn't in 1992, 1996, or Clinton's popularity through the impeachment proceedings.

Unless of course, "most people" voted for Bush I and Dole.

It's a bi-partisan issue. We have a republican congressman from INdiana with illegitimate children that came out during the Clinton affair. A Republican speaker of the house resigned over his infidelity issues, and numerous others were outted as well. Actually the numbers of infidelity are actually larger in the Republcian party at least as far as congress etc. are concerned.

Are you saying Matt Drudge did not write the article in question?

Exactly. That they are investigating it is what Drudge is reporting. That they are investigating it is a FACT. There is no link because the story hasn't been published yet.
