http://www.news-gazette.com/story.cfm?Number=14179 Man turns himself in after fatal shooting By TRACY MOSS © 2003 THE NEWS-GAZETTE Published Online July 17, 2003 DANVILLE – A Danville man who turned himself in Wednesday morning in connection with the fatal shooting of another Danville man may be arraigned on murder charges this afternoon. Officials said John Clark, 46, the father of the NBA's Sacramento Kings player Keon Clark, was booked Wednesday at the Vermilion County Jail on preliminary charges of murder. Larry Thomason with the Danville Police Department said a call came in to police at 3:32 a.m. Wednesday reporting shots fired in the 300 block of Bradley Street at Beeler Terrace, part of the Danville Housing Authority complex. Police arrived to find 27-year-old Clarence Cunningham III of Danville lying in the street. Medix Ambulance personnel arrived on the scene and rushed him to Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4:24 a.m. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, according to Vermilion County Coroner Peggy Johnson. Thomason would not comment on the nature of Mr. Cunningham's injuries except to say he died from a gunshot wound. He said that a few hours after the shooting, a 46-year-old Danville man called police and said he would turn himself in at Fairchild and Harmon streets. Police went to that location, and the man standing there voluntarily went with police. Thomason said Wednesday afternoon that police were not yet officially releasing the name of the suspect. But Clark was listed as having been booked at the county jail Wednesday on preliminary charges of murder. Thomason said the suspect and victim had some type of confrontation early Tuesday evening, and Wednesday morning's confrontation may have been a continuation of that. Thomason could not comment on the subject of the confrontation. He said Danville police investigators were interviewing witnesses Wednesday afternoon and expected to turn their information over sometime today to Vermilion County State's Attorney Frank Young, who will decide whether to file formal charges against the suspect. Mooch had just taken that shot, and since he knew it wasn't going in, he immediately turned to go back down court... On a side note, I was at Westside for a business meeting on Wednesday, and Mooch was there with some other guys running some open gym for 2 or 3 hours. At least he's working on his game, I hope he can turn it around. Just to stay on topic, I've decided that it's probably a good idea that I quit prank calling Keon Clark's dad, saying that my name is Clarence Cunningham III of Danville...
