With all this talk with Yao Ming needing a back up, how about Keon Clark. He's a 6'11 guy with freakin long arms to rebound and block shots. Don't forget he can score as well. Let me get ya'lls take on it cause I don't know if there is other things to know about him

Yeah, it's kind of tough to pick a backup center. Between Mutombo and guys like Clark, it's basically weighing age versus the difference in talent. There's gotta be a formula to calulate this or something.

Here's the formula, get the guy who's going to do a halfway decent job.

I jsut might preferred Keon over Mutumbo. He's younger and quicker and pretty good shooter and shot blocker. He's like a Garnett with less talent.

I too like Clark over Dikembe. Mainly, because he seems like a much more diverse defender. Probably quicker coming from the weakside also.

Can Keon hit a jumper at all?

If we got Clark that would allow us to also play him at the 4 spot with Yao at 5 at times. In addition to blocked shots, Clark could also defend the mobile 4s in the west. Basically Clark is more versitile, whereas Mutombo is a 5 and that's it.

Either way, they both would help this team allowing for shot blocking in our second unit.

Not doubt KC can shot, I watched him alot when he played for Raptors. He will be a good fit in JVG's system.....

If Keon is 'straight', and healthy -- and has something to prove, let him do it here!

If Zo is healthy enough to play again, let him do it here.

If Mt Mutombo costs 'only' unwanted contracts, let him come here.

If Spoon = ERob = Jahidi White, let him come here.

    I want two of them.

    I want them now.

Dampier -- too expensive. Clark -- too thin ... frail ... for the rigors of center (that's why he is always injured). Perhaps Boston will consider trading Kendrick Perkins to the Rocks.

IF ROX can get Keon Clark...they should DEFINITELY get him. He's perfect ..he block shots, play Center and PF and can stop players like Duncan and Garnett, Webber, at least with his length....being a Kings fan, i have seen his game. Motumbo is old....he should be our last option.

One bad thing about Clark is his shot selection is very suspect and his competitive nature is questionable.

    Clark sounds good to me.

Imagine a bench of Keon Clark, Sura, Boki, Lue, and Taylor. That’s a lot of energy coming off the bench.

Keon would be a nice backup for Yao, could even play along with Yao if we need the D.

However, even though Keon is a lot younger than Deke, he is coming off a major injury. I want a guy who is stable enough to play most of the season,

A major injury? Where'd you hear that?

I heard it was just bone spurs.

I consider any injury which makes you sit out an entire season a major injury.

At this point, I'm guessing we go with the cheaper option.

Mutombo, in a trade with Pike, will cost us the difference in his contract and Pike's, which is around 2M.

If Keon Clark costs less (vet minimum), let's get him. But if he's asking for more, then let's go with Mutombo.

I like Dike as a veteran presence and a strong physical presence. The team systems, especially the defense, largely would not have to be changed plugging him in there for Yao.

On the other hand Clark is quicker and can get up the floor much superior to Dike, and probably Yao or Mot too. Thus he could give you the option of going to an athletic, up and down the court primarily 2nd unit (Lue, Sura, Tmac, Spoon or Howard, Clark).

So I see good things about both players, I might edge for Mutumbo b/c of leadership potential, but if Clark is health and welcomes a 15-18MPG energy role, that could be a real nice asset to.

My "sources" tell me that when the trade proposal was handed to Keon he got a papercut and was immediately put on the injured list.
