Kenny Thomas is not that good. Sure he has a few nice moves, but he can't pass out of the block and sometimes gets outhustled on the boards. Nor can he play that good of defense. Everytime he gets the ball on the block I cringe because I know he's gonna turn around and face up his man and do his little move where he hesitates by faking with his leg(where he kinda picks up his leg for a split second acting like he's gonna drive or something) and does his dinky spin move. In my opinion he travels a lot and the refs don't call it. I know he's a rookie, but I can already see that he is not the answer. Eduardo would kick his a$$ on the boards if he were in the NBA right now. Mihm would just brush him aside and dunk right over him. Fizer would take him off the dribble and cream his a$$ on a drive. KT sucks. ------------------
KT can play....period. Bring Najera on! My money's on KT 10 times out of 10. Fizer on the other hand.... ------------------ HOOP-T Hey Shaq, Acme called, and they want their bricks back!
RocketRiver: Did I not mention Mihm and Fizer in that statement? I wasn't pumping up Eduardo. I was using him as an example of someone who would kill Thomas on the boards or using Mihm and Fizer as someone who would cream his a$$ on offense. I don't even think Mihm is that great, but think he is far superior to KT. Anytime I mention an OU player worth anything yall automatically assume I'm trying to pump them up or whatever. It's pretty weak that you claimed that I was pumping up Eduardo when I clearly used examples of two other Big 12 players. If I was pumping up Eduardo then you have to say I was pumping up Mihm also and I would never pump up that weak-sister Mihm. You clearly missed the point. And I'm sure somebody will come and spew more crap like you just spewed, but I don't care because I heard all of this crap before and have gotten used to it. Let the spewing begin. ------------------
Hoop-T: I got to thinking about the Najera vs. Thomas matchup you proposed and thought about Kenny's lack of fire. I don't know what his problem is, he always looks like he woke up. He must be a really quiet person or something because the guy seriously looks stoned. Atleast Najera has a great personality and fire. Plus he's more athletic. ------------------
Thomas needs to lose weight and gain muscle. He looks like the Pillsbury Dough Boy in all honesty. He looks like Othella did when he arrived; maybe that's a good sign since Othella has become a pretty good player. I think KT has some potential, but is very lackluster right now. ------------------
go play some Sega Genesis and see if anyone on the NCAA cartridge can beat anyone on the NBA cartridge....no chance man!! ------------------ The farther the Rockets move down the standings, the farther I move down the bleachers.
soone...i'm just farting with you. venting here is fine. I'm lucky enough to get most that out at the games. You have a good eye; I can tell from your writing. Just don't give up looking for the positives. We have a painful month coming up as Rudy just let's them play. Hopefully, Francis will learn to insist upon some order...because if he doesn't, NBA defenses are going to make that boy old well before his years. ------------------ The farther the Rockets move down the standings, the farther I move down the bleachers. sorry to burst your bubble, stro, but not many NBA scouts are very high on Najera. There was at least one scout who liked KT. CD said that KT and Mobley were the most asked for players (on our team anyway) prior to the deadline (some teams practically begging). Najera might not even get chosen in the first round. Kenny's stock fell because of a rep that should, by now, be in the past. Catch up, already! ------------------
I dont like Kenny Thomas that much. I see him being traded if a right deal is up. By the way, if we have a second round pick and Najera is waiting, Rockets should go after him. I really talked about how he sucks but I have seen alot of him this year and I liked his play. He is a very smart player and has nice inside game. By the way, I would rather have Najera than Thomas. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
It took so long for me to make these tables, that I'm gonna get someone to look at them. We tend to think highly of Kenny Thomas and his potential, and most of us who remember "Band-aid" tend to think of him as a terrible draft pick. Let's see what the numbers say... (The 1st Chievous line is his rookie stats [R], and the 2nd is his career stats [T]) <BR CLEAR="all"><CENTER><TABLE BORDER ALIGN="center"><TR><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center">STATS</DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>MIN</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>FG%</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>3PT%</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>FT%</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>PTS</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>REB</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>AST</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>STL</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>TOs</CENTER></DIV></TD></TR><TR><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>Thomas</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>23.8</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>41.3</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>29.2</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD VALIGN="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>64.9</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD VALIGN="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>8.2</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD VALIGN="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>5.5</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>1.3</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>0.8</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>1.4</CENTER></DIV></TD></TR><TR><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>Chievous (R)</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>19.0</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>43.7</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>20.8</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>78.3</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>9.3</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>3.2</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>1.0</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>0.6</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>1.7</CENTER></DIV></TD></TR><TR><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>Chievous (T)</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>16.6</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>45.2</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>25.0</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>76.1</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>8.1</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>2.7</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>0.9</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>0.6</CENTER></DIV></TD><TD valign="middle"><DIV align="center"><CENTER>1.4</CENTER></DIV></TD></TR></TABLE></CENTER> How do they match up in a 48 minute comparison you ask? B-Ball Freak: Actually, Najera is high on alot of scouts list. He is projected to go in the mid to late first round by most. Chris Monter has stated in the past that scouts like him. I seem to believe that Monter knows what he's talking about. ------------------
Dreamer, There are some things about Band-Aid that your tables do not show. 1. Wasn't he the guy who showed up for his 1st Rockets press conference wearing a Celtics cap? Embarassed the Rockets brass to the extreme pulling that stunt. 2. Plenty of confidence and not motivated to practice that hard. An earlier version of RR attitude-wise. Read too many of his NCAA press clippings. 3. How long was his career? Three or four years? He wasn't that motivated to improve even after getting drummed out of town by the Rockets. Mango ------------------ It could be worse ....... you could have been born a Jazz fan!!!!
DREAMer... that is cruel....Chievous is the reason I don't make draft pick predictions anymore. I leave that up to the young guys like RF34 to manage. After watching him in the NCAA tourny with Missouri, I remember saying something like he's the next Worthy. ouch... that wasn't a nice comparison. ------------------ The farther the Rockets move down the standings, the farther I move down the bleachers.
KT has a chance to be a very good NBA player. He just needs the darn ball to show what he has. Mobley took 22 shots tonight..22...that REEKS !!!! By the way, who thinks the Rockets are not tanking...WIlliams gets hot and he is out with a thigh bruise....heheheh ...a bruise....COME ON !!! DaDakota ------------------
At times I have seen Kenny not even jump and get outhustled in the paint/rebounding. I think he could stand to drop a few lbs. My jury is still out on him... he lit it up this season and the he has- (see above) ------------------ We would like to get rookie Francis on the break for some easy scoops in the first quarter... [This message has been edited by Not Chaney (edited March 25, 2000).]
I for one have waited for Najera to get into the NBA, his Malone style play without the big 12 refs to protect him is going to be well worth the wait. I damn sure don't want him on the Rockets, but his style would fit in well in Utah. We'll see how tough he is when the other side gets to hit back, unlike his ncaa career. Refs don't protect rookies in the NBA. But then again I like Thomas and think he has a good future with the Rockets. ------------------
I'm sorry guys... I'm a Rice U. grad born in Big 10 country...and your obsession with the SW conference and all its new variants is pathetic. I'm sorry, but your borish UT and OU and OSU and whateverU is a bunch of HogWashU....you all know Arkansas was the only good basketball team out of our conference (short of Lewis Dream creaming in his pants one historic day). Your "huge" Big 12 favs are all going to be passed by to some HSer we have never heard of. I'm sorry; anyone who takes a sweet shooting 6'6" forward (Fizer) before the 6th pick with no apparent footwork to get spacing from a Theo Ratcliff or a double team (no less) will produce no better than a 1st team all american like Fortson.... best you find a 6th pick from another conference, or trade it for a proven NBA commodity. ------------------ * bwwwaahahahaha
