Has anyone noticed that every time we get a nice lead at the beginning of a game, Kenny Thomas gets the ball, dribbles until the shot clock runs out, and then shoots up a bad shot. The other team then quickly catches back up because we can't score and they get transition buckets. When he starts being a ball hog, is when we start losing. He doesn't pass the ball and can't make a layup to save his life. If we gave Eddie as many shots as Kenny gets, he would score 25 a game. I hate Kenny Thomas, he makes the game no fun to watch and ruins our offensive movement.
I rarely ever post anymore. But I had to come out, cause I am sick of freakin posts like these. No validity whatsoever. Waste of web space.
Flame me all you guys want, but I agree with him. Actually, I wouldn't really say that he was a "cancer" to the team. But he does hinder our offense somewhat by refusing to pass when he gets it, adding to our ball movement problems. Not only that, but he has one move - that spin move to the basket, which is not a bad move, but he always blows the layup. He can't shoot freethrows either. However, I won't deny that he hustles his ass off everynight. He gives it his all night in and night out. But he just kinda hinders the offense.
I counted 6 plays during 2nite's game when KT drove to the basket into 3 Nets players when I had expected him to kick the ball back out to open Rockets players on the perimeter. KT converted on 1 of those 6 plays. 3 times Griffin was the open man on those 6 plays.
idrockfan's diction was a little harsh sure... but him and rocketkid and pippendagimp make a decently valid point. There's something strange about KT on the floor at times (not saying there isn't with other players as well)... but it just doesn't harmonize like you'd expect. Harmony = Kings/Wolves. There's something about KT and it aint zipping his pants wrong that's making him somehow slightly hinder our offense
I apologize for the harshness of my previous statements, I was venting a little. However, although I know my description fits the Little Dribbler very wel, I maybe could have described Kenny better as standing around until the shot clock is at 4 and then doing his little spin move thing for a missed layup. But again, I do apologize if I upset anybody by my ranting and raving. Rocketkid- I agree, he does hustle his but off. He just needs to learn to stick with his strengths and stay away from his weaknesses. TedRuxpin- Without Kenny Thomas this year we may not have had too many more wins, but at least we would swing the ball around and have a good offense instead of a big black hole. And also if we didn't have Kenny, Eddie would be in the Rookie game and be the front runner for ROY. OK, my ranting is over.(deep breath)
"And also if we didn't have Kenny, Eddie would be in the Rookie game and be the front runner for ROY. " --> Exactly how does this fit into TEAM objectives? So what if Eddie isn't a front runner for ROY? Does that make our team better if he was going to get ROY?
Okay. Kenny only averages 12 FG attempts per game, that's not enough to completely disrupt a whole teams offense. His FG% is higher than almost everyone else on the team. He's taken a step in realizing he's much better at taking the ball to the basket than shooting the outside shot. He rarely shoots the 3 at all, and only shoots the midrange jumper only on occasion (and has been hitting it recently). He's the only rocket that has any inking of an inside game. To say he never makes lay ups is ridiculous. I don't even know what game y'all are watching. That's the main improvent in Kenny is that he's improved his finishing. I remember a game a couple of nights ago where he was able to put the ball high off the glass for two layups. I just think some people are so high on Griffin right now, their brains aren't working properly. I like Griffin too, but right now if you take away his 3 point shot like the Nets did last night, he's not going to be able to do much else on offense. Last night was the first game I saw the other team really try to stick with Griffin the entire game, and the result: 2 of 8 for 6 points. Watching NBA League Pass, its kind of funny how other team's announcers make positive comments about Kenny's play all the time, yet many of the Rockets own "fans" can't even find anything good to say about him.
The use of the word cancer is wrong. I understand the frustration since I get equally frustrated with Steve and Mobley and used to get so with Moochie but he has improved beyond belief. The frustration comes from people, like Thomas, Francis and Mobley doing dumb things and making life harder for no reason. I mean in Boston Francis had a triple double but repeatedly frustrated me with forcing the issue with Francis open alot. KT unlike Francis has a chip on his shoulder trying to prove that he is not a role player in this league. It was good to see him pass to EG for that attempted dunk.

The thing about Kenny's offense is that it isn't effective unless we have good spacing. Several times last night, Kenny tried to dribble penetrate, beat his man, but then had two more guys to get past on the way to the basket. That is because he was fighting against a zone and where he starts on the court is far enough from the basket for the other team to collapse behind him. This gives them turnovers and easy blocks when he tries to force the issue. Hopefully, Kenny will be informed of this and learn when to pass the ball after he has beaten his man. I think that if he does this efficiently, we will only be 1-2 passes away from a completely open shot.
Just because you end up shooting the ball by the basket does not make it an inside game. Kenny relies on his drive/spin/layup at all times and that is mroe of a slasher's game than an insiders. We still have absolutely no post presence whatsoever. I'd be interested in seeing KT's stats in wins versus losses. Anybody have the time to do that
