Kickin it up a notch gotta love Kenny. KT's scoring average increase of 7.3 points from last season to this season is the largest among all NBA players. 2000-01 2001-02 Scoring Player, Team PPG PPG Increase Kenny Thomas, Hou 7.1 14.4 +7.3 Stromile Swift, Mem 4.9 11.6 +6.7 Quentin Richardson, LAC 8.1 13.8 +5.7 Jermaine O'Neal, Ind 12.9 18.5 +5.6 Desmond Mason, Sea 5.9 11.5 +5.6 Baron Davis, Cha 13.8 19.1 +5.3 Troy Hudson, Orl 4.8 10.1 +5.3 will "the raging bull" be up for NBA's most improved Player award? The NBA on Kenny GARY PAYTON, SONICS "Kenny has really picked up his game. He is going to be a phenomenal player in this league. He made a great play at the end of the game and he punished us with it." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DANNY FORTSON, WARRIORS "Kenny Thomas is a real good player and I have a lot of respect for him. I had to come at him and play him hard." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ROCKETS COACH RUDY TOMJANOVICH "The Raging Bull. That's my name for him. The guy is one of the hardest guys (to defend) in the league at the four position, he has great footwork and explosion and he finishes. He's special in that way."
Wow. GP on Kenny. That's a nice quote. KT definitely deserves it all the way. He's a terrific player.
Interesting. Kenny is a real steal because MoT got $48M after last year and in almost every category this year, KT is better than MoT was last year.
I wish we could trade Mo T for Bo Outlaw straight up. I'd throw in our draft pick in exchange for theirs too. I can't see us having Griffin and Mo T getting lots of money, and it looks like Phoenix will need a replacement for Googs.
I dont really see how we are going to unload Mo with that big contract especially since he is coming off a very serious injury.
How about KT + Torres and hopefully our 2 1'st rounders for Marion Marion would be a killer fit Suns would get gobs of tallent to go with Stephon and Hardaway. look what NJ has done this year... wasn't the plan to build a team similar to philly? let the pg score and everyone else helps? Do i even need to make a case for Marion on the Rockets? lol francis mobley marion griffin cato HEY when did they start giving away icecream cones way down here??
I'm actually not sold on Marion. Can he create his own shot? Can he pass the ball well? Can heplay D consistently? Just like Rashard Lewis, too many questions, not enough answers. I'm still hoping we get Odom.
Uh yeah, Marion can play D. I understand where your coming from, but I don't think it'd be a good idea to give up on Mo just yet. Oh yeah, and Bo Outlaw sucks.
KT has really stepped up this year. Iwould rather have him than MoT, but thats how I felt 2 years ago. . . . . right
Personally, I would be very surprised if Kenny won the most improved player award over Jermain O'Neal. O'Neal has improved many aspects of his game, and has really turned into a go to player for that young Indiana team.
Thomas might not win this award, but he's made a believer out of me.When he came out,I thought he would never be able to get his shot off in the pros. What he lacks naturally in certain areas,he makes up for in others. I was really wrong about him.The guy is a very solid rotation player...Kudos to Kenny!
Of course the team did not have the injury problems last year either not to mention KT contributed to those wins as well .. . but then again . . why let simple logic like that upset ya Mo T theory. Rocket River
Sane ,obviously you haven't seen Marion play. He's a good defender, rebounder , and scorer. He's not very effective past 23 ft, but from 20ft and in he's real good, not to mention he runs the court like a gazzelle and jumps like an impala. Not to mention he's a bout Francis age and getting better.. As far as Thomas and the MIP, thats hard to give to a player on a losing team. Oneal is the truth and avg a double double on a team thats in contention for a playoff spot.
Not that it really matters, but Walton was giving Kenny high praise last night too. He said Kenny will have a long career in the NBA.
It's not a theory, it's a fact. Mo T has a much better record as starting PF on this team than KT. Yes, yes, I know all about the injuires, etc, etc. But why take a player who performed to expectations for a large part of the second half of the year, was showing determined improvement in the offseason and was actually successful on a W-L basis with your team and bench him in favor of a player who, while his game has drastically improved, is still not better than the injured player (especially on a per minute basis), hasn't had any success in terms of W-L and is not a true post presence / banger. It just doesnt make any logical sense?
