On inside the NBA this morning Kenny was talking to Wade about his injury last year and brought up how wade said last year no other superstar had fallen off the face of the earth quicker than he did. Kenny says "i guess you never heard of steve francis". The whole crew, even wade had a laugh on that. hopefully steve sees this as motivation, i feel bad for steve now, when he hears that hes going to break down.
There is no reason to feel bad for SF. His time has come and gone and the NBA was very very good to him.
That is pretty funny. Anyone know of any legitimate examples, though? I think Penny Hardaway was considered a "superstar" at his prime, and he fell off pretty abruptly.
Theres plenty of good examples. Hardaway and Kemp are the ones that stand out for me. It bugs me when someone like Smith who was never close to being as good as Francis makes fun of him. I guess its hard to fall off the map when you're not that great to start with.
Yeah UNC, couple rings, good broadcasting career vs. Trade demands, never reaching your potential, never following through on 2nd chances, general douchebaggery.
Do some research before you post statements like this. Kenny had two seasons where he averaged over 17 points and 7 assists per game...one of those was with the Rockets. he also was in the top 10 in 3 point percentage 3 times in his career. All star? Nope. Starting point guard for two NBA champ teams? Yep
I disagree, I think Kenny was just as good but in a different way, Kenny was much more efficient and played better team ball. DD
Not all of them......he was just a much more efficient player.....and if you consider their entire careers Smith's would be better. Francis was dynamic for a few years, but Smith was good for many more. DD
In a way. Steve put up great numbers on really bad teams. He was athletic and exciting to watch, but he had zero basketball smarts. He was one of the only guys I have seen who consistently would blow 3 on 2 or 3 on 1 fast breaks...
As a overall scorer, Steve was better, but as a legitimate PG, Kenny all the way. I compare Derek Fisher with Kenny. Is Derek Fisher the show that Steve Francis was in hey day? No. Is he a reliable PG that you can have on a championship team? yes. Kenny knew when to quit too. Once he left Houston, he didn't bounce around too much like Steve. At least he knew when to retire.
