Now that Brent Barry is signing with SA and Derek Fisher will probably re-sign with LA, how about bring in Kenny Anderson? He has consistently been a decent PG in his career and he had an down year with the Pacers last year. He can dish assists and play D. He would be a nice player to complement Yao and T-Mac. Plus, we can probably get him for the minimum (that's what he played for last year) and spend the rest of our money on a big man. What do you guys think?

Pass. He's no longer a starting option. Good backup, but he's not a starter. Not a bad idea, but with Lue we're set at backup PG.

I keep hearing that we should bring in a temporary solution and then wait for a long term fix to come along.

Who is there to wait for?

we aren't really looking at starting quality PG's anymore. jones, ward, daniels are all SOLID back-ups but not quite starters.

i think the goal is to find a nice fit for a 1-2 punch at PG.

I've never like the idea of platooning PGs. Guards, especially point guards, need PT to get into a rhythm on the court, more than at any other position.

That's why some good starting PGs can be awful backup PGs, and why some great backup PGs are mediocre starting options. It's difficult to find the right balance.

In '02-'03, the Knicks played a PG rotation of Charlie Ward and Howard Eisley. The combo combined to average 16.4ppg, 10apg. The Knicks stunk anyway.

Just because we have two stars/big scorers doesn't mean we can just surround them with crap and hope for a championship to come our way.

I think Kenny Anderson is washed up. He is not even half the player he was in his prime and even then I wasn't impressed. The 2 games I saw him play in the past year I thought he was horrible, no lateral speed, poor decisionmaking, terrible shooting. I would rather we keep Mark Jackson than go after this guy.

Ande Miller is not a FA next year. Lucious Harris is not a PG. Same for Larry Hughes (he can play point, but he's not a PG). Gary Payton is washed up. Ditto for Darrell Armstrong. Damon Stoudamire's a joke. No way Jesus Parker is leaving SA. Claxton is a backup. NVE and Bobby Jackson will be 33 and 32, respectively. Jason Terry's a selfish gunner.

The only decent options out there will be Tinsley, Watson, and Jaric. Daniels already turned us down once in free agency. Tinsley's inconsistent, Watson can't shoot, Jaric can't guard quick, small players.

Our best option is via trade. Use the MLE on a big.

Anderson is an interesting name that hasnt really been brought up yet. I know he was VERY dissatisfied with his role on the Pacers last year being the 3rd PG behind Tinsley and Johnson.

Talk is that Anderson wants to go East, perhaps to play with the Nets and be Kidd's backup. The Nets desperately need a backup PG to give an aging Kidd rest time.

    You're right.

The rest are all possibilities for next year. Some better than other but I was just making a list.

Isn't Kenny Anderson known as beign a bad defender?

NVE is a player option after next year, not a team option.

Personally, I think Antonio Daniels is the best choice, but I don't want to wait a year.

if we sign jones this summer...then next summer sign daniels....

we would have the best 2 ast/to ratios in the league. and a tandem that gives you shooting and defense.
